Welcome to jobs.nsw. The New South Wales government recruitment site
where you can look at and apply for a range of jobs within any NSW government agency.
With over three hundred thousand jobs, the New South Wales public-sector is the
perfect place to grow your career and contribute to the success of this great state.
Jobs.nsw is not only a job search website, there's a host of
information about careers, apprenticeships, scholarships and graduate training schemes.
There's also information about the state government diversity policies, and equal
employment opportunities.
Hi, my name is David from jobs.nsw and i'll be your trainer.
In this first spegment, we're going to show you how to search for job and set up your own user account.
You'll need to user account if you want to save your searches, save your jobs into
a job cart or apply for any of the advertised positions. To get started
click on the JOB SEARCH tab on the main menu bar, or if you're on the home page
use the CLICK HERE icon to get started. This will take you to the job search
page. There's a range of new menu tabs and search fields available,
and if you scroll down the page, you can immediately view all current advertised
jobs - with the most recent at the top.
Click on any of these to view the details. If you wish to refine your search use,
the QUICK SEARCH tab and fill in the search criteria
such as the job reference number,
keywords, job category, or location.
You can also do a more advanced search which provides even further options,
including salary and the amount of time the job has been advertised for.
However, as i mentioned before,
if you want to apply for a job, save a customised search or add positions to your
job cart you're going to need to set up a user account.
A user account contains a very basic level of personal information with
unique ID and password.
So, let's get started. Click on SIGN IN, in the top right corner. You'll then be taken
to a privacy statement page that you'll see each time you log in.
Read and then select accept, which takes you to the login page. Select the
NEW USER button and follow the instructions to create a new user account.
When creating your password, it should contain between 6 to 32
characters and include both numbers and letters,
but you cannot use any funny characters commas or spaces.
Make sure your user username is something unique but memorable.
Please also remember that these username will be used as part of your job
application, so we suggest that you keep it professional as it will be seen by a
prospective employer.
Perhaps using your email address is best.
If you haven't followed the right protocol when creating your user name,
you'll get an error message like this.
Read the instructions because it's pretty specific.
When your password has been created, click the REGISTER button.
The next step is to create a security question and answer, which must contain
at least 3 characters. This is for your own protection and will be used in
case you forget your password. Set your question and answer and then click OK.
And that's it, you're now a registered user and back at the job search home page.
So if you see a job you like, but haven't got time to look at the details,
click ADD TO MY CART and it will be there the next time you login. You'll find your
saved jobs in that my MY JOB CART link at the top right hand of the page,
or through the MY JOBPAGE tab on the main menu. This is also where you'll find
your saved searches under the tab MY SAVED SEARCHES. Be aware that jobs posted
on jobs.nsw have an expiry date, some are only posted for two weeks.
In the next section we'll show you how to create a user profile.
