Summer in Buenos Aires can be a hot affair with temperatures reaching over 35C. With
such heat many people dream of place to swim, like a beach. But are there beaches in Buenos
Aires? Well there are beaches but not in the area of central Buenos Aires. You will need
to travel further out of the city.
For a coastal beach you need to head to the Atlantic Coast.
The nearest beaches are a approximately a 4-5 hour journey from Buenos Aires. These
are the northern beaches of the Province of Buenos Aires. They are made up of coastal
towns and resorts that extend from San Clemente down to Villa Gesell and beyond. A very chilled
out place to visit with nice beaches is Mar Azul. To get to the coast you can take a coach
from the Retiro Bus Terminal in Buenos Aires. It is recommended to treat yourself to at
least a few days on the coast of Argentina.
For a freshwater beach and closer to Buenos Aires you can head to the beautiful Tigre
Delta.
Here you can catch small ferries, known as a "Lanchas" out to this labyrinth of waterway.
Within the Delta are many guest-houses, cabins, bungalows and campsites, as well as restaurants.
Many have riverside beaches and swimming pools where you can cool off. As the Delta is huge
with a lot to offer, it is best to pop into the tourist office next to the McDonald's
at the Port of Tigre first. They will put you on track of what places will best suit
you.
