Hi guys. It's Destinee from FateofDestinee. I am horribly excited. I just got back from the gun store. I got a new gun!
It is a
fresh out of the box, I got a twenty-fifth Anniversary Edition Beretta M9.
First thing, I'm gonna clear the weapon real quick.
So, it comes with two magazines. I like that
also because
the magazines that comes with
are at the Italian magazines like straight from Beretta
instead of the aftermarket GI issue magazines that the armed forces models come with.
So I think that's a little nice touch.
I got an extra set of grips, and then the weapon already comes with walnut twenty-fifth anniversary
grips.
So now that you've seen these, I need to get them
out of the way
so I can show you some of the neat things about the gun.
Now,
functionally,
the Beretta M9 is the same gun as the 92FS. There're just a couple
small differences cosmetically.
Um... some of the markings are different, and you can see right away
that the M9 is there instead of the 92; that's a given,
but it also doesn't have the warning label that says to read the user's manual before operation.
Another of the small differences is it has a straight dust cover.
On the Beretta FS,
it has a slanted dust cover so the curvature
that you see here,
on that 92FS, it actually starts back here before it
uh... reaches gradually to the trigger guard.
Another of the slight uh... cosmetic differences
is on the rear strap, this angle right here at the beaver tail
in the 92FS, it's more pronounced. It's deeper and it allows you have a higher
grip on the gun.
But other than those things,
it's basically, they're basically the same weapon.
So, one of the things I like about this is I like the feel of this weapon. It has kind of a bulkier
grip,
but for me, it still sits well in my hands. So, i like the feel of it. Now, the frame of it
is, um, aluminum,
and then the slide and the barrel are both, um, blued steel. So, it has weight, but I feel like it's
balanced. It's well dispersed.
So, another of the things I like about this is, as opposed to the 1911s that I've done takedown
and reassembly videos for,
the
field stripping of this weapon: easy, easy, easy.
You just push the field strip lever,
then you can remove the slide,
guide rod, and barrel,
and you're done.
That, to me, is fantastic.
I mean, as much as I love the 1911s,
having a takedown be that quick and simple is a huge appeal for me
in the weapon, because it just makes all of the cleaning that much easier.
That, and uh because this has an aluminum frame
and a stainless - I mean, blued steel slide, it's important to keep this weapon oiled
so that I don't cause excessive wear
on the frame just because it's a softer metal.
So, knowing that I have to keep that kind of maintenance and knowing that it's going to be easy
maintenance is great for me.
I also like this clever recoil mechanism.
I know that there are other 9mms out there that I could have purchased. Some would say that they
are better,
but for the price range I'm looking at, and the feel that I like,
the M9 was really the best option for me and I'm so excited about it. I know
Glocks are will a great gun; they're super reliable but, when I hold a Glock,
it's like a plastic brick.
I, I don't like the feel of it. I feel like I have to
force myself, my hand, to work with the grip, and it really impacts my shooting.
With this
frame being so light,
but having a nice dispersal
of the uh... the steel slide and barrel, I feel like its' balanced well, and I feel like
the grip sits well in my handand it's solid, but it's not cumbersome.
So,
for what I'm looking to shoot,
just a couple of times a month
as a hobby, this really was a fantastic weapon for me.
So, I'm not knocking on any other models. If you like Glock, you like SIG, whatever,
awesome. Go to the range. Shoot. I'm a huge supporter of my 2nd amendment rights.
But, um, my first impression of this gun overall?
I'm excited.
Thanks for watching.
