Greetings to all our Brothers and Sisters in the Lord. I’m Rev. Shinri Emoto, Vice
President of the Japan Lutheran Church. We thank each of you from the bottom of our hearts
for the outpouring of prayers and support following the massive earthquake and subsequent
damage which occurred here in Japan. We are particularly grateful to the members of the
LCMS for the $100,000 donation. This will be used to help support the daily needs of
those affected in the Tohoku region and others displaced by the earthquake. The Japan Lutheran
Church has two congregations in the Fukushima area of the Tohoku region - Fukushima Church
and Koriyama Church. Those two church buildings are fine and all the members are safe. Our
Lutheran partners here in Japan, the Japan Evangelical Lutheran Church, has two congregations
and three primary schools located in the Sendai area of the Tohoku region. Those buildings
experienced some damage, but the buildings are fine and the members are safe. As we learn
the severity of the damages, we are continuing to look for ways to use your financial gifts
to aid the recovery. The recovery will not be over quickly. Your continued financial
support will be needed for a long time to come. Please remember us and pray for us.
As Lutheran Brothers and Sisters in Christ, together, we can help the people of Japan
affected by the earthquake. Through our relief efforts we witness to the love of Christ.
We are grateful for your financial gifts and ask for your continued donations moving forward.
