My name is Raymond Carney, I'm the building operations manager for the Sullivan, Eberhard,
and Research Greenhouse buildings on campus. I have been
on call in this position 24 hours a day, seven days a week since we opened in May 2003. Coming
to academia from the corporate world its just like starting all over. I must say it's a
more comfortable environment. The academic world is full of adventure more
so than the corporate world, and it's been a rewarding experience.
Primarily I manage the building and services to make the students more comfortable, make
a better learning environment for them and you know the staff making sure that they're
working environment is the best it can be. The Sullivan building is designed to be a
research facility, it's a science building. The heating and air and ventilation systems
are a much higher capacity. In-house plumbing services, natural gas, air, vacuum. It's everyday
something different. I've never had a boring day, I've never had a slow day either.
UNCG has a fabulous group of folks, staff, students, faculty.
it's like family to me, a community and that's what UNCg is all about.
Just a great place to be.
