It's spring and to celebrate I'm going to make a video talking about the flowers. The first
we need to know is that the word FLOWER although ending in -O, it is feminine. We say
LA FLOR. If you want to know four expressions with the word FLOWER, wait a minute.
Hi! I'm Sergi Martin, your Spanish teacher in YouTube. With the word FLOWER we can do
some very curious expressions. The first I can think of is that
"A flower does not make spring."
This expression is used to say that just for one example we can't say
that something will be always repeated. For example, if I do a test and I get very good
but never study, it's not normal, I can say "A flower does not make spring." This means
I will not always pass all tests.
The second expression is "Being one day's flower."
This expression is used to say that something starts but it will last a very short time.
Lately we hear this expression in Spain because there are new political parties.
There are journalists who say that some of these parties "are one day's flower."
Meaning that now are famous but that will last very little time.
The third expression that comes to mind is
"To go from flower to flower."
We can use this expression to say that
we try many things but don't go deeper in each one. It's an expression very
frequent when, for example, a boy has relationships with many girls but never
gets engaged to any of them. We can say this guy "goes from flower to flower."
The last expression is "To have a flower in the ***". This expression that looks very curious
is quite frequent when we say that someone is very lucky at something. It is an expression
I've heard enough about Pep Guardiola, former coach of FC Barcelona.
It is said that Pep Guardiola tries new things in football but everything goes well. They say
that he "has a flower in the ***," that is, he's very lucky.
If you want to try these expressions use imagination and leave some comments below.
You can also say if there is any similar expression in your language,
or if you know others in Spanish. Comment it!
And we all will learn with those comments. If you want to see more videos don't forget to subscribe
and Like it. All this helps me to continue these videos to learn Spanish.
See you in the next video. ¡Hasta luego!
