To me, "United" means a sense of cohesiveness...
Coming together and creating something that will benefit everyone...
The United States of America?
Taking care of the planet.
United means everyone coming together, no matter what race, man or woman
sharing common bonds
and hoping for the same outcome.
I think it means, like, group teamwork...
Combined together, assembled...
Solid.
Strength.
The benefits of working together
is you can get a heck of a lot more accomplished.
And feel a lot better doing it.
It's fun!
You get more done.
Things get done better...
Everybody wins. It's a WIN-WIN opportunity.
It's easier. It's more efficient. It's faster...
YES! And you can work together with people.
I believe a strong community starts with the youth.
The value of education is very important.
Education is what opens doors for a lot of people.
Having financial stability is important,
because it empowers an individual
to reach the next step within their lives.
Be it career, education, knowledge or otherwise.
Without your health, you can't do anything else...
If you're not healthy, and you're not able to get out
And LIVE UNITED...
You can't contribute, you can't have financial stability...
But, health is extremely important...
I mean, it's... Longevity. That's the goal!

Hey, you grow up in the projects you think that's life. That's the world.
Until you get exposed to the outside...
Because of United Way, because of the Community Chest,
It provided a launch-pad to go do something else. See something else.
Make your world a little broader.
Returning to school is something I always wanted to do...
I just didn't think that it could be possible.
And it's... Things ARE possible.
United Way has helped me reach my goal...
In being a single mom, and owning a home.
I'm very thankful for that.
A community is the sum of what each person puts in.
If nobody in the community participates...
It wouldn't be reasonable to expect a whole lot.
But when everybody pitches in, and everybody does their part,
Things get phenomenally better, it's amazing what you can accomplish.
It's not just like, "Oh, if I help them, I'll get something back"...
It's more like "If I help them, I'm making my whole surrounding a lot better".
If you want to get involved, if you want to see a better community...
If you BELIEVE in the community.
Then you should find a way, to contribute to the community. And to United Way.
You contribute, and other people see you do that...
And you bring THEM into it, and it becomes a chain reaction.
And everybody's working to help the community.
If you have a row of dominos around you, and you push one...
That's gonna PUSH, PUSH, PUSH, PUSH...
And eventually it's just gonna come back and hit you, so...
You can't back off and say "Hey, what we have is great!"
No, what we have IS great, but we can make it better.
We can make it better by LIVING UNITED.
