The weather is absolutely gorgeous today.
We could't have asked for a whole lot more.
People surfing... couldn't be happier with our day
down here in Cape Town.
We are going to start packing bags
and heading towards Cape Point.
We will keep you posted on a little roadtrip.
Driving on the opposite side of the road is always interesting.
Our first stop would be the world famous Boulders Beach
which is the prime spot to see African Penguins in the wild.
Boulders Beach is about an hours drive
if you choose the scenic route along the spectacular western coastline.
Boulders Beach baby!
So we are heading to Boulders Beach
where there are *** Penguins.
It all started with two penguins in the 80's
and now there are up to 3,000 penguins
so that's a huge colony.
Hard to imagine...
From two mating pairs to a colony of 3,000 penguins in 30 years.
So they are called *** penguins because they make this crazy sound
that's similar to the bray of a donkey.
You can see over there their mouths are open
which is a way for them to sweat.
Because it's pretty hot here for sure today.
They are used to colder temperatures.
But they can just jump in the ocean when they need to cool off.
Because the ocean is quite cold around here and that's why they can survive.
So we found out that we are allowed to actually swim with the penguins.
I didn't bring a swimsuit but luckily for everybody else on this beach
I actually wore underwear today.
So what we are going to do is what they call the old "strip & dip".
The protected nature reserve, Table Mountain National Park
extends all the way from Signal Hill in the North
to Cape Point in the very south.
I would say our ETA is 5 minutes from the Cape Point.
should be some spectacular views.
We just saw wild endangered cape Zebra.
Already we have amazing views and we are looking forward to even better ones.
We recommend arriving somewhat early in the day
as you will need to exit the park by sunset
and there is definitely a lot to explore.
We are taking a little walk/hike up to Cape Point
which is not the southernmost point of Africa
but it is known to be.
And we are heading to the lighthouse
and the views are absolutely ridicously spectacular.
We were sailing out there the other day.
It looks a lot calmer today, than it was the other day. For sure.
After a few hours in the park the day was sadly coming to an end
but we would still welcome the stunning African sunset
and slowly make our way back towards Cape Town.
