[Sound of drone] >>Bill Bessette: Have you heard the buzz?
>>Gregory Kolaske, Student: By far, hands down, the best class I have taken here at
Madison College. >>Bill: Madison College's drone class...
>>Student: It's bound! >>Bill: ...has students reaching new heights.
Is it fun to fly the drones? >>Gregory: It is a lot of time in the pilot
seat. We do have a trainer that you hook up to your computer and you're able to get some
flight time, learn piloting skills. [Sound of drone crashing]
>>Students: Uh-oh. >>Bill: And even though the drones sometimes
seem to have a mind of their own... >>Student: It's ready for flight!
>>Bill: Students are learning much more than how to pilot a flying robot.
>>Tom Kaminski, Instructor: You learn about a lot of basic skills, mechanical skills,
soldering skills. You learn about strength of materials, you learn about frames bending
when they hit too hard. >>Tom: And you also look at complex systems
that have both software and hardware components. >>Bill: Okay, so you're learning a lot—but
it's also a lot of fun. To learn more about Madison College's Industrial Maintenance Technician
