Hey, it's Kane McConnell from GoPro University. Today I'm going to show you a part that comes
with your camera. When you get your camera, you're going to find this little white rubber
piece. It's not very clear what this goes for. It took me a minute to figure it out,
so I'm going to show you what to do with it today. I'm going to use the box mount that
actually comes with the camera. Now, this is just like the flat adhesive base that you
also get with your camera, but this is the one that comes on top of the box, and it's
really handy because it's already mounted to a plastic base. It makes a great table
top stand for your camera. Now this is the typical clip that comes with the camera. And
to insert it into the base, you just slide it in and it locks in place. You can hear
it snap. Now the little rubber thing that comes in - the little stopper - is designed
to keep the fingers on the back of this clip from pinching and releasing. An example, if
you're in a high impact incident, you don't want this coming out of the mount and losing
your camera. So what we're going to do is we're going to take the stopper, and we're
just going to lay it in the grooves behind the mount like so. And what that does is it
keeps the you from being able to pinch the clip in order to release it. So if something
were to impact the mount, these fingers aren't going to pinch in and let this slide out.
And it's certainly not coming out the top. Alright, so what this looks like with the
camera then. So we'll slide this in. And you've got this little ring that's just sort of tagging
along. The little ring fits right over the locking bolt. Pretty easy to get on there.
Slide this in - I always have trouble lining this up. I don't if it's my eyes or... There
we go, I'm just old. Once that's lined up, you can just slide it in there, give it a
little twirl. And what it looks like from the back is this. So you can see that this
is keeping your clip from releasing itself, and then it's also - in case this stopper
were to come lose and come out, which is unlikely - it's at least attached to the locking bolt
so that you've got a little fail-safe there. It's also useful when you are taking the bolt
out. It kind of keeps the bolt handy to help you from losing that as well. So in order
to take this off, we'll take the camera off, and obviously the camera's not in the case
because I'm filming with it. We'll take the bolt off. And the temptation is to grab the
little loop and just give this a yank. Well wear and tear - eventually this little piece
is just going to pop off. So I avoid pulling it out that way; I just put some pressure
on the back here to raise this up, and I just grab it by the bulky part and pop it out.
Then you're ready to pinch the clip like normal and slide it out. And that my little friends
is what this thing is for. You won't find it described very well in the manual. Like
I said, it took me a minute to figure out what it was for and where it went, but now
you know.
