Safety with all agility is vital. For the over command, I have talked in previous segments
about positioning your dog, and identifying the space required to clear the stick. Most
of your dogs, through training and preparation, should be ready for competition, but we still
want to be aware that we don't want to stress the dog with any quick, excessive turns. So,
if your dog does miss a prior obstacle, stay calm, and identify what's going to be required
to clear the next obstacle. There are times where your dog is going to know the course,
possibly better than you, so it shouldn't be a problem in a quick change to have your
dog clear an obstacle. But be aware of the capability of your dog, so you don't overexert
them to cause a possible injury. I see many competitors just actually losing a couple
seconds to think about the next move which will actually benefit them, compared to making
an improper decision, taking points off of a off of a miscue.
