[Wind whooshing]
[Rhythmic beats]
[Woman hooting]
[Upbeat Latino instrumental music]
"In the glad springtime
when leaves were green
"O merrily the throstle sings!
"I sought, amid the tangle sheen
"Love whom mine eyes had never seen"
- Damn.
- Hey, I know one.
"There once was a man from Nantucket"
- Wait.
Please.
- I'm speaking.
I'm a bit busy enjoying the change of season.
Yeah.
I'm a little busy myself.
I have lured all of my biggest clients
here on the same weekend.
What, with this Everlast concert?
You wanna keep it down?
It's an unannounced,
private Everlast concert
- and it's only for their kids.
- I see.
And while the kids are
happily partying poolside
The parents are happily
squandering their inheritance inside.
[Both laughing]
- And I thought you was a music lover.
- I'm a money lover.
[Mike chuckles]
I can't believe I told Sam I'd do this.
When we were kids
we always made it for opening day
at the pool.
It's because we always
snuck into opening day, remember?
[Mary laughs]
Who'd have thought I'd grow up to be
the one keeping people like us out?
DANNY: Who'd have thought?
- Can I help you?
- Yeah.
I was wondering when Natalie Lapoint
starts her shift.
She's been real lucky for me
and I could use a little luck right now.
- Well, I'll check for you.
What's the name?
- Jerry Spires.
All right, Jerry Spires.
Again, Mr.
And Mrs.
Light,
I just wanted to welcome you back
and make sure you have a good weekend.
Thank you.
And you guys
I hope you enjoy that private concert.
- Yeah.
It's gonna be way sick.
- Yeah.
Way, way sick.
Okay, then.
- You guys need anything
- What are you doing?
Just talking.
They're visiting
from out of town.
Bye, girls.
- Bye, Danny.
- What's going on?
Well, it's pretty quiet.
Except for the drunk at the craps table
who tried to pull a dice switch.
What'd you do to catch him?
- They were blue, with glitter.
- Good work.
We open the pools, even bad guys
take a week off to soak some rays.
Don't worry.
They'll be back in one week,
all tanned, rested and ready to go.
Right.
Gunther, I can't tell you
how much I appreciate this.
When Emeril backed out the last minute
I thought we'd have to cancel
the cooking demo.
You were finished, through, kaput.
But now you turn to Gunther to help you
and you think everything is forgiven.
Are you still upset I didn't ask you first?
Listen to me.
Gunther is like an elephant.
With big ears and a long memory.
Well, yeah, but Emeril
is a huge celebrity chef.
Yeah, but I am Gunther.
In Las Vegas,
there is no star brighter than Gunther.
Wait.
Hey, you were looking for Natalie?
Yeah.
This is her table, right?
Yeah, but she seems to be running late.
- Maybe you could come back later.
- No.
I really don't think I wanna leave.
I think I'm gonna wait right here.
Play a little 21.
Chips, please.
Sir, you're welcome to play anywhere
in the casino, but this pit's closed.
I don't think so.
I'm afraid I'm going to have to call security.
That'd be a huge mistake.
And why is that?
Because I've got a bomb
strapped to my chest.
[Rhythmic beats]
[Theme music]
[Peppy rock music]
MAN: All right.
I don't care if your parents
bought the margaritas
that doesn't mean that you can drink them.
You.
No.
Thank you.
Man, these little rich kids are so bratty.
Well, besides the babysitting,
how's everything else going?
Five pool rescues, three people
with second-degree burns
one beached whale.
Yeah.
One of Sam's 300-pound high rollers
sucked back six Mai-Tais, nuded up,
then bodysurfed the wave pool.
Dr.
Falvey is examining his dorsal fin.
[Both laughing]
DANNY: Well, that's a typical opening day.
MARY: Yeah.
Hey, Danny, do you remember
when we saw Duran Duran at the Hard Rock?
we hopped the second fence.
DANNY: Remember?
And we would've been kicked out
if you hadn't convinced them
that Simon LeBon was your date.
We finally made it in
just as they started singing Rio.
MARY: Then if I remember correctly
didn't we make out through the whole song?
Man, was I ***.
Though I can't remember
which was more fun
the concert, the kissing, or the sneaking in.
Me, neither.
- Where is she?
- I don't know.
- Another card?
- Yeah, sure.
Hit me.
[Tense instrumental music]
Guess it's my lucky day.
CROUPIER: Seven.
Winner!
Excuse me, Mr.
Harville.
Yeah?
I'm sorry I wasn't able to meet you in
Bella Sera, but your table's ready.
Is it?
I thought you'd forgotten me.
Get him out of here.
I've been his dealer for five years.
Security will get suspicious.
NESSA: Sir, I understand that you like
to gamble alone
but would it be okay if Mr.
Spires joins us?
[Ed grunts]
Guess his money's as good as mine.
Fine.
Let me have $25,000, please.
[Tense instrumental music continues]
Ed Harville.
New York.
- Jerry Spires.
- How are you doing, Jer?
MITCH: Hey, Danny.
DANNY: Hey, Mitch.
I wanna show you something.
MITCH: Can you bring up 34 on P9 for me?
MAN: Sure, Mitch.
What the hell is Ed doing at the tables?
MITCH: Can you push in?
MAN: Sure.
[Camera zoom whirring]
What is he doing?
Hitting a soft 17 against a five.
I'm gonna go down for a closer look.
- I'm good.
- And you?
NESSA: 18.
Jerry, what are we here for?
Convention? What've they got this week,
sheet metal?
ED: They got that home fixture show.
Me, personally, I love the pool here.
I just love the pool.
No, I live in Henderson.
I'm just waiting for my girlfriend.
She's running late.
She got a name or something?
- Natalie Lapoint.
- Natalie's one of our dealers.
I like that.
That's nice.
Natalie.
We've been having some problems lately.
We were gonna get married
in Venice, in Italy.
Not right away, but, you know,
we were talking about it.
That's nice.
ED: Gondola rides,
a kiss under the Bridge of Sighs.
Wait a minute.
You said you lived in Henderson.
Why would you be meeting her here?
She's been having second thoughts, right?
I figured we could talk it out
on neutral ground.
ED: Yeah, well.
That sounds like
a plan to me, all right.
Thanks.
Hey, you know, we could call her.
No phone.
She won't even talk to me
on the phone anymore.
This has to be in person.
DANNY: Hey, Nessa.
How's it going?
NESSA: Hey, Danny.
I found Mr.
Harville.
He's on quite a run.
NESSA: While you're upstairs,
can you check on Natalie Lapoint?
- Jerry Spires wants to talk to her.
- Of course.
- Congratulations, Mr.
Harville.
- Hey, thank you.
Excuse me, son.
Would you mind terribly
I mean, if you've got a chance.
There's a show over there at the Rio.
I don't know if I'm saying it right
but it's Cherchez la Femme.
I'm dying to get a couple of tickets.
If you'd help me, I'd appreciate it.
And I hear these girls got
a braful of talent over there.
- Am I right or am I right?
- You're right.
I'll see what I can do.
ED: Thank you so much.
DANNY: All right.
ED: Split these, will you?
[Gunther laughing]
And now we have two.
Of course apples is the key ally
in Gunther's Henry sauce.
But, you only need one half for the recipe.
So I will deport the remaining
efficiently, like so.
Well, you don't have to do that at home.
You can just go like this.
It's fun, no?
Hello to you.
Hello.
I am Gunther.
All right, now it is 2:00.
Gunther is here.
You know how people get on Vegas time.
Maybe you should start again.
Maybe you should want Emeril to come
and save the day?
Don't be ridiculous.
You're doing the best you can.
Yeah, but not as good as Emeril.
Maybe Delinda should want Emeril
to cook at Mystique, too.
Don't be silly.
He already has the two
hottest restaurants in Vegas.
Yes.
So, what are you saying here?
That Gunther is number two?
- I never said that.
- That's right because Gunther is number one.
And I make number two all over your
stupid cooking demo.
- What?
- I quit.
Benito, come on.
We go now.
DELINDA: Gunther.
GUNTHER: Where are you, little gypsy boy?
All right, I leave alone.
Are you crazy?
If this Jerry Spires is a problem
why didn't Nessa throw him out?
- Or have Ed do it.
- I guess Ed doesn't know what's going on.
She was calling him Mr.
Harville,
and he was playing along.
So, what are we supposed to do?
- "We"?
- Yeah.
I just figured
All right.
Well, when I was leaving
Ed asked for a couple of tickets
to Cherchez la Femme.
- There's no such show.
- "Cherchez la Femme" means "find the girl.
"
Mitch, what's the status on Natalie Lapoint?
No luck on either her home or cell.
She's not picking up.
Considering where she lives, she's probably
caught in that traffic accident on the 15.
Let's keep trying,
and run a check on this Jerry Spires.
- You want me to let Luis in on this?
- Not till we know what this is.
Shoot Table 43 with
all the surrounding cameras.
[Camera zoom whirring]
- What are we looking for?
- I have no idea.
Let's get a few of our plainclothes guys
down there
to isolate this table until we find out exactly
Who is that?
It's Delinda.
Hi, Daddy.
Hi, honey.
I'm having the worst day of my life.
Gunther walked off
I can't find Benito
and now the cooking demo's ruined.
DELINDA: What am I gonna do?
I don't know.
I'm sure you'll think of something.
To top it off, my head feels like
it's going to explode.
- You ever get that feeling?
- Frequently.
[Whispering] Daddy
I don't think you should be gambling
at your own casino.
You could get in serious trouble.
I will keep that in mind.
I don't know very much about your girl
but did you ever consider
if you're having problems
that it's possible that it's your fault?
Excuse me?
MIKE: What's Ed doing?
Well, he appears to be *** him off.
- He's good at that.
- Yeah.
- But why would he be doing that?
- To see if he'll tip his hand.
She won't even talk to me lately.
You know, Jer
You know, I'm certainly not an expert
or anything
but if a girl disrespects you
sometimes you gotta take the hint
and move on.
- I mean, am I right or am I right?
- Hey, don't touch me.
ED: You know, Nessa
Jerry here needs a little help
with the ladies, am I right?
JERRY: Leave me alone.
Cue time mark.
Step back 10 frames a second.
[Tense instrumental music]
- C-4.
- About an ounce.
- Just enough to kill everyone at the table.
- Assuming that it's real.
Only way to find out if it's real
is to swipe him for explosive residue.
How're we gonna do that?
[Tense instrumental music continues]
[Camera zoom whirring]
All right, do you see that?
He swiped his hands.
Ed knows.
He saw it, too.
I think he's gonna need an extra napkin
with his drink.
I'll get one of our waitresses to deliver it.
Son of a ***.
[Exhales sharply]
Until we know what's going on
I want a 30-foot perimeter with our people.
DANNY: I don't want any guests nearby.
Get Metro on phone.
Post security at all the entrances.
Notify all the parking attendants.
- I don't want Natalie hitting the floor.
- Danny, Metro's on the line.
Luis, this is Danny.
Listen, we got a problem.
A serious problem.
Look, if you just wanna sit here
and wait for your girlfriend
it's no skin off my nose, okay?
I mean, we'll just hang out
and play some cards, okay?
ED: About time.
- I'm not thirsty.
- Come on, Jer.
Don't be a girl.
Come on.
Have a drink.
I'm sorry, buddy.
ED: I'm really sorry, man.
JERRY: Back off.
ED: Hey, come here.
JERRY: Don't do that.
Hey, Jerry.
We're waiting
for Natalie, remember?
Hey, I'm just looking to have a little fun here.
Gee.
Sorry.
Bring me another one, sweetheart, will you?
MAN: I still have reduced vision
on Slots 23, right?
ED: I'll tell you something, pal.
It is no fun drinking alone.
ED: I can assure you that.
I mean, am I right or am I right?
DANNY: We've got him isolated
at Table 43 with Ed and Nessa.
Strapped to him is something
that resembles a bomb.
Plainclothes guys have established
a 30-foot perimeter.
LUIS: What does he want?
DANNY: Natalie Lapoint, one of our dealers.
What he wants with her, I don't know.
- Plus we don't know where she is.
- I'll send a car to her house.
- So, what do we know?
- We know the bomb is real.
[Tense instrumental music]
[Rhythmic beats]
[Upbeat pop music]
[Suspenseful instrumental music]
Jerry.
What's going on?
- What do you mean?
- No one's supposed to leave.
- Well, hey, Natalie's coming.
- Yeah, what if she doesn't come?
Jerry.
ED: My name is not Harville.
My name is Ed Deline,
and I'm president of operations
for the Montecito hotel, okay?
That's why she isn't coming, right?
ED: Why don't you just take it easy?
JERRY: They know?
ED: She's got nothing to do with this.
It's me.
I'm the guy you need.
ED: Now, we'll talk about it outside.
You and I.
We'll get up together
and we'll walk out of here.
I promise you, Jerry.
Nothing will happen to you, okay?
[Tense instrumental music]
Jerry?
Get me a phone.
I want to talk to them.
- Get me a phone.
- Okay.
[Cell phone dialling]
ED: Here you go.
JERRY: Put it down.
SAM: Also, all guests must have
a current room key card.
SAM: That means every card
needs to be swiped.
I want you to keep an eye out for crashers,
stolen IDs.
If anyone charges drinks to rooms that don't
exist or uses names that don't match
do not hesitate to remove
them from the premises.
I don't care how hot they are.
- Hey.
- Hi.
That's for you.
Sixty people? That's the entire guest list
for Everlast tonight?
The pool area can hold five times that,
and also a few locals.
SAM: It's touching that you still identify with
the poor, hapless locals.
You used to be one, too, you know.
Poor.
Hapless.
I don't intend on going back.
MAN: We'll set up here in the corner.
DANNY: You got everything you need?
JERRY: Where's Natalie?
She's not here yet, but she's on her way.
Don't lie to me.
Natalie lied to me.
I hate when people lie to me.
I'm not lying to you, Jerry.
Okay?
JERRY: You don't understand.
I need to talk to Natalie.
DANNY: Okay, maybe we can
work something out.
No.
There's nothing to work out.
I've got a bomb strapped to me.
Do you understand?
I'm going to blow this whole place up
if you try anything.
We're not gonna try anything, all right?
We just wanna talk.
No talk and no more taking people
out of the casino.
I want Natalie now.
Okay.
Like I said, she's on her way.
We just wanna talk to you for a minute.
DANNY: We don't want any troubles, okay?
No, Jerry!
Gunther, you're gonna have to
pull yourself together.
[Speech slurring] No.
Gunther is a failure.
DELINDA: No.
You're not a failure.
GUNTHER: Yes, I am.
- You're a star.
- But not a shining star like Mr.
Big Shot.
Well, you just need something
for people to know you by.
A trademark.
Wait a second.
Ja, ja.
I know what Gunther needs.
He needs a catchphrase.
- You do refer to yourself in the third person.
- No, that's only a pretentious affectation.
Gunther doesn't need old cliches.
- He needs new ones.
- Okay.
How does "whoosh" sound to you?
That's good, no?
No.
- "Schploot"?
- No.
I like this one.
"Schploot" is good.
"Shazooz.
"
He said he was gonna blow
the whole place up.
But you said there was barely an ounce
of C-4 in that bomb.
Just enough to take out one table.
DANNY: Are you sure about that?
MIKE: Yes.
Either this guy's completely nuts,
or he didn't make that bomb.
Danny, they just found Natalie.
She was passed out in her living room.
They're bringing her in.
Jerry, how about another hand?
Hey, man, I know how it is to lose a girl
and how it feels.
Yeah.
Sure you do.
- You're married.
- Oh, yeah.
I sure was.
We separated about six months ago.
Thirty years, man.
What happened?
You know, we fought a lot.
A lot.
And I believe there's only
a certain amount of
fights in a marriage.
After a while, there's no number of
"I'm sorrys" that'll fix things.
I guess one day she just decided that
it was easier to go than try again.
Yeah.
Natalie and I were never like that.
We never fought.
Not ever.
Not ever?
[Scoffs]
What the heck are you doing this for?
Probably for the same reason
you still wear that ring.
Because I can never forget her.
Man, listen.
I can tell you, believe me.
I mean, things get better.
ED: They do.
I mean,
maybe you need some time, that's all.
I mean, this is not the way.
That's all
I can tell you.
This is not the way.
It is for me.
Hit me.
I'm so sorry, Danny.
I'm never late for work.
- That's all right.
- No, it's not.
I went out last night,
but I didn't come late or anything.
The next thing I knew, I missed work
and the cops were banging on my door.
Maybe somebody put something in my drink.
I'm not in trouble, am I?
No.
We have to ask you some questions
about your boyfriend.
What did Todd do now?
Jerry?
That's not your boyfriend, Jerry Spires?
Yeah, right.
He lives down the hall from me.
So, you guys have never gone out?
Are you kidding? I said hi
to the guy by the mailbox once.
NATALIE: The next thing I knew,
he wouldn't leave me alone.
It wasn't long before it went
from weird to scary.
Really? How?
He was showing up at my door
in the middle of the night.
Leaving me notes on my car.
Finally, I told him, "Leave me alone
or I'm calling the cops.
"
- Is he causing any trouble?
- Yeah.
You could say that.
We've mobilized downstairs.
Our sharpshooters are getting into position.
You put a two-inch hole in his head,
you're liable to shorten the buffet line.
You sure Mayor Goodman's
gonna be okay with that?
The longer this goes,
the more likely we are to lose hostages.
CAPTAIN: We get a shot, we're taking it.
Sir, even if you hit the guy,
he could still set off the bomb.
This is gonna happen so fast,
he'll be dead before he hits the ground.
Look, Jerry, they're never gonna
bring Natalie down.
JERRY: How do you know that?
They think if they do, you'll kill her.
It's over, Jerry.
JERRY: No, it's not.
They'll never let me walk away.
They'll kill me first.
MAN 1: Audio links are secure.
All departments report in.
MAN 2: Sierra 1 in position.
MAN 3: Copy, Sierra 1.
Setting up video link now.
MAN 4: Assault team 1 in position.
MAN 3: Copy, Assault 1.
Ready for inter-screen, await instructions.
MAN 5: Sierra 2 moving to position.
MAN 3: Sierra 2, establish your video link.
MAN 5: Roger.
Distance to Tango
[Suspenseful instrumental music]
If you know they're going to kill you,
why not give up? Save yourself.
JERRY: Doesn't matter what they do to me.
If she blows me off, that ***
will get hers, too.
We made sure of it.
- We?
- We made two bombs.
[Tense instrumental music]
MAN 5: Sierra 2 now in position.
MAN 3: Roger, Sierra 2.
You have a green light.
Take the shot.
MAN 5: Confirm.
Switching over to video now.
Confirm video.
Signal strong.
MAN 6: Tango's finger is on trigger.
Dot-dot-dot.
MAN 5: Too much foot traffic.
I can't get a clean shot.
DANNY: Dot-dot.
MAN 5: Negative.
Not without exposure.
[Tense instrumental music intensifies]
MAN 5: Roger.
I'm at 33 meters.
Sierra 2 ready.
MAN 3: Sierra 2, you have a green light.
Wait for trigger to clear.
Two.
"B" and "O.
" Stop.
- What are you talking about?
- Don't shoot.
Tell them not to shoot.
MAN 5: Finger's still on the trigger.
DANNY: Stop!
DANNY: Ed's sending a message.
LUIS: Stand down.
Stand down.
Repeat.
Stand down.
MAN 2: Sierra 1 standing down.
MAN 5: Sierra 2 standing down.
MAN 4: Assault 1 standing down.
There's a second bomb.
[Upbeat pop music]
I used to sneak into places like this.
Now I conspire to keep people like me out.
SAM: Well, if I wasn't so damn busy,
I'd stop and ponder the irony.
No, I'm serious.
A concert for the kids
of our rich, spoiled guests.
- It doesn't sit right.
- Tell you what.
After this, we'll do something charitable
and wipe the karmic blackboard clean.
Yeah.
Today we serve the whales,
tomorrow we save them.
- Why the hell are you dragging me out here?
- We need to discuss what to do.
I'm gonna do what I should've done first.
I'm evacuating the casino.
You cannot evacuate the casino, Luis.
Our convention hall is filled with people.
The pools are packed.
Gunther's holding a food expo
in the north hall.
You don't think that Jerry's gonna
notice 5,000 people
That second bomb could be anywhere.
LUIS: I won't take any chances.
DANNY: I won't let Ed and Nessa die.
- Damn it, Danny.
This is my case.
- This is my casino.
- It's Ed's
- No.
Right now, it's mine.
Listen to me.
I'm not the enemy here.
The enemy is at Table 43
with a bomb strapped to his chest.
This is my house.
What happens in my house
is my responsibility.
Ed's relying on me.
Believe it or not, we are trained to do this.
And so am I.
- What's your plan?
- We need to find that second bomb.
SAM: Hey, what's wrong?
DELINDA: Gunther's passed out in the back.
Don't you have that food thingy
out in the casino?
Had.
Gunther freaked out and bailed.
I found him at Bella Sera
powering down a bucket of scotch.
Let me guess.
Nobody showed?
Walked by him like he was selling insurance.
I don't get it.
We have about 200 half-naked
people out by the pool
continuous legal gambling
and 24-hour free ***.
Now you're wondering why people don't stop
and look at the man
in the Laverne and Shirley outfit
dicing up the onion?
MARY: Don't you have two seatings here?
DELINDA: Three.
You've gotta get some coffee in him.
He won't lift his spatula
unless I figure out a way
to get people to watch that cooking demo.
Men and their fragile little egos.
Yeah, so easy to prop up, yet, oddly,
even easier to crush.
[Sam chuckling]
She loves what she does.
And speaking of crush
I have to make sure we have enough ice
for the Everlast show tonight.
I have to go, too.
You need to comp
Mr.
Chen tonight, 6:00, nine people.
But how am I gonna get people to fill the
Make sure you give
Mr.
Chen the private room.
The second bomb means
Natalie's not the only target.
For all we know, Jerry's just a diversion.
- Diversion from what?
- I don't know.
LUIS: Think someone wants to take down
the casino? Jewellery shops? Art collection?
This place is like a candy store.
It could be anything.
Mitch, run a spread spectrum facial
recognition scan on everybody on the floor.
Start supplementing the personnel
in the casino cage
the art gallery,
and the shops with our people.
Quietly.
Danny, we're gonna have to
evacuate the casino.
Luis, you heard the man.
We evacuate the floor,
he could set off both bombs.
[Camera zoom whirring]
ED: Trust me, even some
Parabolic mikes are in place.
We got audio at the table.
Putting it on speaker.
ED: Jer
where'd you meet this friend of yours?
Why are you so nosy all of a sudden?
Nosy? I'm just curious what kind of guy
would let a buddy of his
get in a, you know, jam like this?
You think this is a jam?
I'm making a statement here.
I'm drawing the line with Natalie.
- And you've every right to be upset.
- What do you know?
Yeah, how would you know?
It's a condescending attitude like that,
that sends a guy spiralling into the abyss.
I was reminding you that
there are plenty of fish in the sea.
Cold cup of *** like you likes to
get inside a guy's head for kicks, right?
- Excuse me?
- They don't get it, man.
Beautiful girls like that
don't know where the abyss is.
The truth is, don't matter what they look like.
Look at this.
ED: Trust me,
somewhere there's a guy tired of her.
Amen to that, brother.
I tell you what.
JERRY: When Natalie dumped me,
I tried to call her over and over.
She ignored me.
Maybe her phone was on vibrate.
Or she needed some space.
Yeah, space.
After she wouldn't talk to me
I wanted to get in bed
and pull the covers over my head.
Man.
I damn sure have been there.
But then I meet this guy Tommy at a bar,
and he tells me not to wallow.
Tells me to get up.
"Let's go party, man.
This is Vegas.
"
Yo.
You know? He tells me I need a plan.
Cross-reference every Tom, Tommy, Thomas
within a 50-mile radius.
Last names, too.
Run all variations.
Get Natalie back in here.
See if she recognizes anyone.
Kazoot!
[Crowd applauding]
Yeah, baby.
That's crazy good.
Gunther has mad skills, no?
Watch the cooking demo,
free dinner at Mystique.
Right here.
Yeah.
Watch the cooking demo,
free dinner at Mystique.
It's fabulous.
Kazoot!
[Crowd cheering]
Thank you very much.
Guys, I'm looking at the bomb from the
close-up we got from the overhead camera.
- The red wire's not attached to anything.
- Hauptschein.
He's right.
There's no circuit.
- Do we even know if this bomb is real?
- It's real.
- Somebody else has the trigger?
- That's right.
- The guy with the second bomb.
- We're looking for a remote trigger, people.
Scan for anything emitting a signal.
Wait.
I know that guy.
He was in the bar last night
sitting right next to me.
DANNY: Who?
NATALIE: This guy.
DANNY: Okay.
Could he have slipped
something in your drink?
I guess he could have.
That would explain why she was passed out
until an hour ago, right?
He's not black-booked or Griffined.
I'm gonna run facial recognition
and bring it up on P3.
- How do you feel?
- I'm okay.
LUIS: Come on.
- Thomas Alessandri.
- Tommy.
LUIS: Can you get me his vitals?
LUIS: Armed robbery.
Extortion.
Attempted ***.
DANNY: Gulf War.
DANNY: Ran an underwater demolition unit.
Single frequency digital transmitter.
- Can we jam it?
- No.
It's double-keyed.
Randomises itself and the trigger.
- What if we take out Alessandri right now?
- No.
See the wires running down
his arms and legs?
The backup detonator's called
a dead man's trigger.
If he leaves his feet or keels over,
the bombs automatically go off.
- Damn.
- We gotta get Ed and Nessa out of there now.
I want you to isolate that blackjack table.
Give me a plan for crowd control.
Get those lightweight shields ready.
What are you talking about,
lightweight shields?
You were right.
Jerry's just a diversion.
Diversion's only good if you use it.
Then no matter what we do,
Jerry's a dead man.
Ed and Nessa, too.
[Upbeat rock music]
[People chattering]
SAM: Ready?
MARY: Lights, check.
The ice cream sundae bar's up.
The sports bottles are filled and ready
- I've got non-stop calls for tickets.
- It never fails.
The more exclusive the pool parties,
the more they want in.
I need a favour.
They need to say this from the mike.
"Brandon Chen from Alhambra,
California is off the chain"?
- Perfect.
It needs to be word for word.
- Who wrote this?
Brandon Chen's father has lost
$1.
2 million so far this weekend
- so I promised him a little dedication.
- I hate this whole thing.
- I owe you.
- Yeah.
- Hi.
- Hi, Miss Connell.
- Is everything going okay?
- Yeah.
- Kelli.
- Yeah.
You know, there's a big show
down at the pool tonight.
- I heard.
- You wanna go?
Isn't it just for the rich kids?
Yeah.
It is.
But I hear the south gate
will be unguarded at 9:30.
Pardon me?
[Whispering] Pass the word.
KELLl: Wow.
Thanks, Miss Connell.
MARY: You're very welcome.
And please don't call me that.
KELLl: Okay.
MARY: Okay.
[Grave instrumental music]
I think I've got this figured out.
If Alessandri is off the casino floor,
how is he watching Jerry at the table?
Why does he have to watch?
What if he gets jumped, or gives up?
Alessandri will wanna know that.
That makes sense.
What about a wireless mike on Jerry?
Frequencies are too close.
Wireless mike could detonate both bombs.
How does he keep an eye on Jerry
if he's not actually watching him?
He's gotta have another set
of eyes down there.
Isolate Alessandri for the last hour.
[Tense instrumental music]
Look at that, on the left.
Either this guy's got
a bladder the size of a peanut
No.
There.
Every time he walks through
the door, he looks up at something.
[Camera zoom whirring]
There's some kind of a signal.
Where's that coming from?
Let's follow the beam.
In the slots, him.
It looks like he's watching Jerry.
Then
he signals Alessandri everything's okay.
Every two minutes, there's a flash
above the men's room entrance.
LUIS: Guys, we haven't found
the second bomb.
I say we get Ed and Nessa out of there now.
- Just wait a second
- SWAT's got snipers set up there and there.
LUIS: They're gonna
take out both simultaneously.
Jerry's bomb will go off
when Alessandri leaves his feet.
So will the second one.
That's why we grab him before he falls.
We take out the spotter, Alessandri won't
know anything for at least two minutes.
- That may be enough time.
- What if you don't move fast enough?
- When Jerry's bomb explodes, you're going
- I can do this.
We need to let Ed know
there's a second trigger.
I can rig the LEDs on one of the cameras
to flash on and off.
- Can you tap it out?
- Can you do that?
- Yeah, I can do it.
- Okay.
I just hope Ed sees it.
Bring it up.
[Tense instrumental music intensifies]
[Exhales]
You don't mind, do you, Jer?
I'll take the spotter at the slots.
The clock starts then.
Two minutes.
Anything goes wrong,
tell your guys to shoot.
- You sure about this?
- Absolutely not.
[Fast-paced instrumental music]
[Gun cocking]
LUIS: Don't move.
In fact, don't even breathe.
DANNY: No.
It's dead.
[Nessa grunting]
- Where's this guy at exactly?
- Slots 4, west.
- Keep his eyes busy.
- Don't get us blown up.
All right.
Come on.
Let's take a walk.
Come on.
[Fast-paced instrumental music continues]
MIKE: It's over.
I press this, both bombs go off
and half this place disappears.
Now turn around
and go back the way you came.
- We can't do that.
- Well, then sit back and enjoy the show.
It's a tough decision, huh?
[Suspenseful instrumental music]
It's where Alessandri
planted the second bomb.
LUIS: Probably took him three hours
to drill the holes
deep enough to channel the blast inward.
That's why he had Jerry keep us busy.
He blows the wall through to the back of
the cage on the other side.
Before the shift change,
there's got to be like, what, $3 million?
- No, like, what, $4 million.
- $4 million.
No one notices because of the crater
in the middle of the casino.
- Guys, I'm gonna need a statement from you.
- Stating that we went in on our own?
- Yeah.
Something like that.
- That's fine.
Good.
When you finish that,
patch the holes, will you?
MIKE: Yes, sir.
DANNY: I was fantastic out there.
MIKE: I was fantastic.
You were all right.
MIKE: But I was fantastic.
[Danny chuckling]
- So, you swept the entire property?
- Yeah.
We ran the dogs over every inch.
It's clean.
You know, Luis, if it were me
I would've never let things
go down the way they did.
I don't know why you
let Danny take the chance.
Because it's Danny.
Hey, Dad.
Thanks a lot, Daddy.
What? What did I do?
I was in a difficult spot today
and when times got tough
you weren't there for me.
Well, honey, I was just a little busy.
Yeah, right.
You've always told me
it's quiet when we reopen the pools.
I should've let Jerry blow me up.
[Guitar music playing softly]
[Crowd cheering]
EVERLAST: [Singing] White Trash Beautiful,
Trailer Park Queen
She slings hash at the diner
from 11:00 to 5:00
She married a boy from school
thought he was oh so cool
But all he can do for money is drive
So, Ed, Mike and I reviewed the tapes,
and after your nice little run earlier
you also have been through
a bit of a cold streak.
We figure you lost $30,000 at the tables?
Now, we can take a major credit card
or we can work out some kind
of instalment plan.
Wait a minute.
I'm afraid you're gonna
have to trust me on this one.
Talk to my casino host, please.
[All laughing]
WOMAN: Great.
All right.
DELINDA: I have to hand it to you.
You were a big hit.
Naturally.
Gunther is so tired.
We have 300 reservations tonight.
Imagine that.
Yeah, 250 of them are comped.
You know, your father is out of control
with his freebies.
You know Dad.
Kill them with kindness.
NESSA: What, tough day?
DELINDA: You have no idea.
NESSA: Neither do you.
And look at these guys.
No idea what we've been through today.
- Hi.
- I have to go do something.
You gonna go open the south gate?
I already did it.
If you tell anyone I'm going soft, I'll kill you.
MARY: Have a beer.
SAM: Stop smiling.
[Mouthing] Thank you.
[Mouthing] You're welcome.
GIRL: Yeah.
All right.
Hurry up.
[All cheering]
[Singing] White trash beautiful
There's something you should know
My heart belongs to you
And you coulda found a better guy
I'll love you till the day I die
I swear to God it's true
I'm comin' home to you
I'm comin' home to you girl
I'm comin' home to you
I'm comin' home to you girl
I'm comin' home to you
