Hey Everyone, and welcome to MandarinMadeEZ.
My first time seeing the Chinese medicine doctor.
Have you seen one?
Do you believe in it?
I'm always a bit skeptical to go see one.
Just because I think the western doctors are usually better.
But recently I went to see one. Why?
Because my stomach has always been a bit iffy. So I have been curious to know why
after I returned to Taiwan, especially when work is busy and stress is high. My tummy just starts to feel bad
So, having visited the western doctors quite a few times, they didn't really seem to solve my problem. So that's why I went to see the Chinese medicine doctor
The first time I went, I was pretty scared because I didn't really know that to expect.
I just thought I may as well go, it won't do any harm.
Chinese medicine is mild, and even if it doesn't work,
So last week I just went to the Chinese medicine doctor.
Gosh, Everything you're eating is all wrong!
I was so surprises. I always though I ate so healthily.
In fact, I found out that all the stuff I had been eating has been leaning towards the "cold" side.
Is it because I eat salad or yogurt for breakfast? And she said yes.
Food has temperature, but food is categorized into
Hot, really cold, warm, cold, and mild .
Afterwards, I told my western friends and they we like, what? I don't understand.
Only then did I realize that there were certain things that were really cold, and they were the things I loved like watermelon, and watermelon juice.
In the summer there's nothing better than having a watermelon juice. Only then did I realize that there were certain things that were really cold, and they were the things I loved like watermelon, and watermelon juice.
In the summer there's nothing better than having a watermelon juice.
But my doctor said, no! you can't eat watermelon
She said it was super cold, and not good for women.
Because, uh, when I was about 15 or 16 I went to the UK to study.
So when I started learning how to cook, it was all in the UK.
I can only cook western food. OMG!
I have been trying to learn more Chinese cooking, but
I'm just really used to cooking western food
so for lunch time, I usually make salads or
i'm most used to these things
But I realized that western food is really unsuitable for my body type
my Chinese medicine doctor realized
that my knowledge of food was really poor
so she gave me this sheet of paper
it clearly states here
what's "hot"
what's "cold", "warm", "cool" and "neutral"
and I realized that
the things I like to eat
are all "cold". OMG.
I can't eat the things I like
watermelons, pears,
oranges
I have a banana a day
The Chinese medicine doctor heard this and said
Gosh, you can't have a banana a day
you definitely should not have seafood
seafood is super "cold", but I love seafood
"warm", or not so "cool" foods
a little bit "cool"
apples
I know you don't really believe in Chinese medicine
but I still decided that
I should just give it a go
of course
Gosh, the pasta that I like or bread ... I can't eat any of it
Do you guys know what 'body type' you are?
What type of foods do you like?
When you chatting to a Taiwanese person
you can say "wow, you know that's really "cool" right?"
"you shouldn't have that, you should be careful"
"you should take care of your body"
see you next time!
