Step 2 Betsy: Round two, step two of getting out
of the basement. Look it only took one step. I'm already out of the basement. Check it.
Oh, wait. Here, already at the beach. Okay, so a little bit of housekeeping from step
one in the basement. First things first, the name "Get out of the
basement project" seems to be the popular choice. Let's clear something up about being
in the basement. There's good stuff about being in the basement, yeah, some good things.
I know how to have fun in a basement. I threw some awesome parties in high school from the
basement. It's a basement. Do you think anybody can see what I'm doing? How many of you spend
most of your time in a space where nobody can see what you're doing? What would you
do? Yeah, I don't really want to hear that. It's not a bad word, basement. Lots of cool
stuff happens in basements ... not in this one. No, I mean I'm in this basement, so it's
automatically cool. The basement does not suit me is step two. It is standing up and
saying, "Okay, this doesn't work for me. No matter what it is, this doesn't work for me."
Totally cool for me to stand up and go, "Hey, this doesn't work for me."
I, Betsy Sexton, it's hard to say because of so many things, but I deserve better than
living in a basement. Step two. This is the step. It's standing up and going, "This doesn't
work for me. I deserve for this to change." It's okay, it's okay, it's cool. Say it. "I
deserve better." Say it. "I deserve better. I deserve better. I deserve better. I deserve
for this to change. I deserve better. I deserve better. I deserve for this to change," and
I get that it's hard. Did you see how hard it was for me to say that I deserve to live
not in a basement? Cool, say it, say it. "I deserve better. I
deserve better. I deserve better. I deserve for this to change. I-I-I-I deserve better.
I deserve for this to change." It's pretty easy, right? Do you guys believe me now? At
