Looking back towards the assault on the fortress in 1915
and before the European Chess Championship
the citadel together with Kaunas Federation
has decided to hold an extraordinary event -
The living chess game.
Well after the battle everyone is invited on a tour,
during which you can access with the history of the fort
and visit all the exhibits
and then come talk to chess club members
Well, the most important - that this event is free of charge
and this is the proof that Kaunas forts still awake!
we are in the VIII fort, on the main fort object,
as the indigenous people known as the "Zeppelin"
But this time we can not go to it, because of the plants
So admire it from further afield
When we are visiting the forts, we have to be very careful
because there is a lot of uncovered pits into which we could fall...
where there was once a VIII fort now lies gardens
One of the best maintained fort - this is the Ninth Fort
which hosts a variety of tours and events
Behold the walls of this 1943 - 1944
the Nazis shot and burned people
in this fortress, Ninth Fort, Hitler's occupation
was established Jewish concentration camp
and is now a museum here
