Just off the coast of Valparaiso, Indiana, lies Zao Island the family entertainment center
that's been a Northern Indiana escape for more than 25 years.
This island-themed hot spot boasts not one, but two 18-hole mini-golf courses. The courses
include more than 20 fountains, 10 waterfalls, suspended bridges and is overseen by the Island's
signature guardian—a forty-foot-tall green dragon. Oh, sure, he's just concrete and steel,
but the other lizard denizens of Zao Island are all flesh and blood.
Every summer, Zao becomes home to dozens of real baby alligators. Now, that's something
you don't get to see every day in the Midwest!
Besides the 'gators, there's plenty of fun awaiting kids and adults at Zao Island. Lay
some rubber on the go-kart track, engage in an epic battle inside Jungle Quest Laser Tag,
take a swing or two in the batting cage, or compete for tickets and prizes in *** Mccreedy's
arcade room. Feeling a little hungry after all that action? Don't worry—Zao Island's
got that covered, too.
The island's restaurant, Colada's Island Pizza Cantina, is a full-service restaurant that
specializes in baked (not fried), tasty, kid- and adult-friendly dishes.
So the next time you're in Valparaiso, Indiana, drop in and enjoy a taste of the island life
at Zao Island.
