Hi this is Shana Bethune on behalf Expert Village. I'm going to talk to you about factors
you need to consider before choosing a location for your home office. Once you've decided
that you're going to convert the bedroom into a home office, you have to consider a few
things. First of all where is the bedroom located? If it's in a high traffic area, it
may not be good for an office because there will be lots of noise. Secondly, how large
is the bedroom? Are they going to be able to fit everything you need like a desk and
filing cabinets, computers? There's a lot of stuff that goes into a office and if you
don't have enough room for it you might need to consider putting your office some place
else. You also want to consider the light sources in the room that you've chosen because
if they aren't many windows, you're going to have to put in a lot of lightening and
if you don't have enough electrical outlets it can be a problem. So choose a room that
has a lot of natural light and that won't be an issue. Most importantly you want to
make sure that it's a space that you can actually work in but it's not a bedroom that is shared
with a TV room for an example. Because the TV could be a major distraction and also that
it's not a room used by other people living in the house because they'll need access to
it. Because if you have it corned office then that could be difficult for people to live
with. Remember that when you're working you want your space to be an office and nothing
else.
