Hi, I'm Stuart Shepard, this is Stoplight.
Water. In the right amounts at the right time
it's essential to a healthy life.
We drink it. We cook with it. We wash with it.
But, freeze it into little flakes and blanket everything with snow -- and suddenly water
is dangerous. We lose the freedom to go where we want to go. Try to walk, you might fall down.
Try to drive, you might run into other cars. It can weigh down tree limbs and knock
out the power lines.
In the wrong amounts, at the wrong time of year -- water can put your very life in jeopardy.
Government. In the right amounts, at the right time
it's essential to liberty.
For example, when government is doing the job of defending us "against all enemies,
foreign and domestic" Or when it's about the business of building some highways -- or making
sure airplanes are not running into each other. Those are essential reasons for government.
We need that.
But what happens when government takes the wrong form, and blankets everything in
the country? What happens when you can't go anywhere or do anything without running into government?
When Christian colleges, Christian organizations and Christian-owned businesses lose the freedom
to operate because of government intrusion? When you can no longer go see the doctor you
like, because the government got in the way? When your power as a citizen "goes out?"
In the wrong amounts, at the wrong times, government can put every aspect of your life
and freedom in jeopardy.
So, what's the solution? What do we do?
Do you think it's time that we get out the snowplow?
