Good morning! We are ready to begin the 2011 Edition of Strade Bianche. Racers, please line up!
Nicola explains the movements of the 3 Vittoria cars during the race. After about 20-30 seconds, the first breakaway takes off with Car 1 in pursuit. When the breakaway lead exceed 1,30”, Car 2 takes over and Car 1 goes back in front of the group to assist an eventual second break from the peloton.
Pietro, “It’s all ok. We are behind the jury.”
Servizio Corse Team briefing about wheelset models for the teams.
Pietro, “Are you on the breakaway?” “Yes, I am. I see the group at 40-50 seconds.”
“Is this your first Montepaschi Strade Bianche?” “No, this is my 5th time to be involved in the Strade Bianche."
“What are the biggest differences between Montepaschi Strade Bianche and Paris-Roubaix?” “The biggest differences between the two are the cobblestones. Paris-Roubaix is more extreme because of the cobbles and it’s not as flat.”
“Strade Bianche without rain will be a marvelous race!”
“Is it the longest pull next?” “Yes, 19 km.”
"Who are the teams for us? Geox, BMC and that’s all.”
"During the first edition of Montepaschi Strade Bianche, a really interesting incident happened. We were at the back of the Peloton when suddenly a lot of the riders started crashing for no apparent reason. Once we got closer, we could see that “Bambi” had just crossed the road and the mother deer was scurrying to get across as well."
“Do you have a sandwich for me? I am hungry” “Yes, we do.” “And where are our cars?” “No team car are allowed here right now.”
"Honk at them, they will move! Honk at them, they will move!"
The last kilometer.
