Hi, I'm Cocinillas Yum, my real name is Miguel Ángel,
and we are here to do a short introduction about cooking.
Many of you are single or just become independent,
students, you live in shared flats
and the cooking notions you have are basic.
Les try to give one more step and be standard.
What is each thing? What is this for?
and how to cook simple recipes, not only frying an egg
or a french omelette, although even for some of you it's dificult.
The first thing I'm going to explain to you
are some cooking utensils you will need
every day to be able to cook,
to cook your own recipes.
Yo will have to waste some money.
The ignorance can make you buy some knifes,
some utensils, that do not give the service they should.
Let's start with some utensils
but they are not all of them , this is not Haute Cuisine,
and we are not cheffs.
Let's start.
The money you are going to waste,
Won't be much, but will be a good investment.
Necesary knifes for cutting fish, meat, for pealing, etc.
There is a great variety of knifes,
but you won't need them all.
I will say, that 2 or 3 will be enough.
This are the knives
that we will need
for simple and basic cooking.
This utensils, in this case, this knifes
that will be usefull for everything.
First, the serrated knife
a fine knife, a jagged-edge knife.
This will be usefull to cut bread, sponge cakes.
Not many uses, but essential.
On the other hand, this knife.
This one is for cutting onions, pepper...
It has a small tip and it gets bigger.

more efectively and comfortable

Another typical and basic is the boning knife.
For meat, to cut sillets, to bone it, it's essential.

It will be usefull to cut garlic
or to do very meticulous cuttings,
like cutting the top part of a tomatoe etc.

And lastly, the essential one, the cooker knife.
This one you can find it in shopping centres,
a decent one, don't waste too much,
for about 17 € you can buy one,
that will be usefull for everything.
Without these
the cooker's knife and the one with the fine tip,
are essential to start working.
This is a good purchase, you won't regret it.
And lastly,
Some of the extra utensils
that will be usefull for some things.
Utensils like a slotted spoon and a food mill,
any extra utensil that is not a knife,
a fork, a pot or a pan,
I will show you now.
Let's do a quick review
of all the variety of utensils
For example, this for whisking.
The spoon to serve.
Ladle for soups, or whatever,
as long as you can serve it with a ladle.
A skimmer. When you cook some vegetables and potatoes,
this will help you to take them out from the water.
That's why it has holes.
Tongs. To turn over the fish and meat,

This wooden variety.
This will be usefull for pans and pots,
that you don't want to scratch.
Wood is essential for this. You have a great variety,
you can buy a pack
and have them for whatever you need.

They have to cut good, mostly the fish.
A potatoe pealer, either this one or the rectangular one,
you will not get so tired of pealing with this,
than cutting with a knife.
A spatula, this one is for pastry,
with this one you can spread chocolate etc.
They are made of silicon, and as you see
you can separate it to clean it,
without needing to put it in the dishwasher.
A paintbrush. The silicon ones are the best.
The don't loose hair and you can use them
to spread honey, sauces, etc.
This is essential to crush.
Buy a good one.
This one is strong stone.
It will help us to crush the food
we put inside.
Esential. In this one you should waste some money
Get a good chopping board.
Thick and steady.
A scale is usefull and necesary.
Electronic or whatever.
With this basic knowledges of cooking utensils
we are going to start cooking.
