Creating a colourful
fruit butterfly
couldn't be easier.
Peel a banana and slice both ends so it will sit flat.
Slice evenly along the banana.
Then peel one kiwifruit.
Slice it into rounds.
And to create the striped butterfly body
place a round in between each slice of banana.
Now you can get creative with some colourful fruit wings.
Take another six kiwifruit.
Slice the skin off
and then once again cut these into rounds.
These will make a perfect base for the wings.
Arrange the kiwifruit either side of the banana body
in the shape of butterfly wings.
Dark-coloured grapes look great as eyes
and will sit in place with the help of a toothpick.
To start adding some more colour
take one orange, cut the skin off
and then cut into rounds.
Now you can start the layering.
Place the orange rounds over the kiwifruit
to create a pattern.
Kids love sweet red strawberries
and sliced like this will make a perfect final layer
to complete the pair of colourful wings.
Finally, cut a thin strip from a colourful apple.
Slice this into thin straws...
..and arrange like this to create the finishing touch
to this healthy, colourful butterfly.
The kids will love it.
You can experiment with other fruit
to create different patterns and colours.
