Hello and welcome to Cupcake Addiction's Classic Ice Cream Sundae Cupcake Tutorial where I'll
be showing you how to make these super cute and super easy little classic looking sundae
cupcakes. Tools and equipment that we will be using
today: I have my cupcakes. I'm going to use mini
cupcakes today. But obviously, you can use any size cupcake you like. And you may just
need to modify couple of the sizes as we go through the decorating. But this will work
across all cupcakes. I've got some of our perfectly pipeable buttercream
frosting. I'm just using white but you can change the colors to suit your theme. And
I've got that in a disposable piping bag. Normally I use a round tip which is the Loyal
number 20. But today, I'm using the Loyal number 15. Now that is just because I'm on
mini cupcakes so I wanted a slightly smaller tip. But honestly, any round tip will do for
this. The bigger, the better for your larger cupcakes. And smaller is fine for your minis.
I've got a zip lock bag. A sharp knife.
I've got some melted dark chocolate. You can also work with white chocolate or candy melts
depending on the color scheme you go for. I've got a natural ice cream wafer. I get
a lot of questions about this. This is how we buy them here in Australia. And they're
confusing because they're not kept with the biscuits. They're kept with the ice cream
cones and the puddings in our supermarkets here in Australia. So if you're not finding
them with your biscuits in your biscuit isle, check out your deserts and your puddings,
and things like that which is where we normally keep them.
I've got some Jaffas. For us, these are little chocolate orange balls and they're nice, red
and round. If you don't have access to Jaffas, you could also use peanut M&Ms, crispy M&Ms,
anything red and round that's going to look like a nice cartoony kind of a cherry.
And I've just got some sprinkles. Let's get started.
Firstly, we're going to pipe our swirls onto the cupcakes. So really easy, and we do have
entire tutorials dedicated to the perfect cupcake swirl so head on over and check those
out. I'll leave links in the description below. But I'm just going to start in the middle.
And just a nice small swirl, almost just two go's around just to make it sort of a nice
height. 1, 2, stop at the top. So that's what I'm doing as far as the swirl goes. And it
doesn't have to be perfect. There's a lot of room for error in this which is why I love
them. Alright, there's our swirls.
Now, you want to take your... You might cut our wafer because once the chocolate goes
on, you want to work quite quickly. So with the wafer... And I love this because you can
cut them with scissors, you can cut them with a knife. And they cut really nice so they
don't often snap. So cut across there. And you should get 6 of the mini-sized ones out
of each wafer. Alright, there's our little wafers.
Take your zip lock bag, pour in that melted dark chocolate or whatever color and flavor
chocolate you're using. Zip up the bag and make sure that you let all of the air out.
And we're just going to cut off a little corner just about that much just to fashion it into
a small piping bag. Now I'm just going to drizzle that chocolate
in sort of 5 little spikes, I guess. So I'm going to go 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. And it doesn't
matter if it's not perfectly even. You want to take it and just give it just a soft little
tap on the bench to get those rivulets running down of that delicious chocolate. Quickly
working, place on your sprinkles. Sit in your wafer. For the smaller ones, I like to have
the smaller crisscrosses facing forward. And for my larger cupcake, I like the larger crisscrosses.
And just wedge it. Make sure it sits all the way into the cupcake and not just into the
frosting. Maybe pop it off into a bit of an angle there. And on goes the Jaffa.
Look at that! Super easy. So I'm going to do that a couple more times so that we can
all see how it's done. We'll do all four of these at ones. I want you to see exactly just
how easy and fast these are. So once again for that chocolate -- 1, 2,
3, 4, and 5, like a little chocolate avalanche. Tap it down. Sprinkles on. And the sprinkles
are really just going to stick to the chocolate, as well as going everywhere. Place in... And
I like to pick my best side before I place in my wafer. Place that wafer in off on a
bit of an angle. On goes your little cherry. And on to the stand.
