Frankie is a bird living out his days
in the most culturally diverse city in the world:
Amsterdam
He's broke, unemployed and doesn't have a car, not even a bike,
but all of that doesn't matter because he's just a bird.
Frankie isn't dumb nor stupid, he's just a silent observer.
Like the distinguished bird that he is, one important valor that stands out in him is loyalty.
Frankie has been sitting in front of the same window, day by day for many years now.
Ever since old Pops died a couple of years back.
Pops was the single decent pot-smoker who used to feed Frankie
without trying to pull out one (or all) of his feathers.
Frankie hardly ever ventures out more that 20m away from that window,
which is located right across the road from the blue brain factory: the VU.
Every year, he sees fresh faces, recklessly arriving in their odd 2-wheeled contraptions.
Some of them smell like old Pops, which sparks Frankie’s curiosity and imagination.
He sees them every day, going in and out of the brain factory,
yet has absolutely no idea about how these creatures actually live their lives.
Thus, he ventures out of his comfort zone
and spreads his shabby old wings to go out into the world once more,
into THEIR world.
Primitive creatures as they are and unable to fly,
they sometimes take to the water, cruising along some of the many canals.
Frankie never conceived that he has something in common
with these weird creatures.
His perspective would soon change.
The day that Frankie saw his uncle’s picture on a big wall
he was so baffled that he almost layed an egg.
Maybe they weren't so different after all..
Suddenly, Frankie felt no longer alone. He starts to like them...
The unthinkable happens.
Something that even the humans can barely handle: it snows.
This triggers highly contradictory behaviours on their part:
some, choose to drown themselves in sorrow, accepting their cruel fate
while others stubornly insist on riding their precarious bikes.
Come to Amsterdam: we're weird but you'll love us anyway,
Frankie does.
