Welcome to Discover the Truth! Have you ever wondered why holiday celebrations
are such a key part of modern life? Billions of dollars and endless hours are spent on
holidays each year. Just what exactly drives society to invest so much in holidays?
Is it the food, family and fun that motivates the celebration?
Is it because family and friends also observe these holidays and keep up the momentum year
after year? Or is it a custom and habit so powerful that
most just automatically fall into them without question?
It’s all of the above, of course. And like clockwork, as soon as one celebration is over,
the world is busy working on the next one in an endless cycle. Few ever stop to seriously
question why they keep holidays. The merchants, of course, love it that way. They don’t
care WHY a holiday is observed so long as they keep reaping the mammoth profits from
them, making mechandisers and retailers the prime promoters of holidays today.
And so the hype increases and holidays continue to grow and mutate sometimes to the point
of absurdity. If you have ever seen an Easter tree decorated with hanging eggs, you know
what I mean. This has led in the case of the Christmas
celebration, to a call for a return to the true meaning of the observance. The fact is,
not much meaning is there. Christmas evolved hundreds of years AFTER the Savior. No one
knew anything about Christmas in the Messiah Yahshua’s day or even centuries afterwards.
Historians acknowledge that it grew out of the Roman Saturnalia, adding one foreign custom
after another, like tree decorating and mistletoe, yule logs and holly.
The major traditions surrounding this annual extravaganza are assumed to come from the
Bible, but in fact are fabricated, such as the December 25th date, the three wise men
visiting the manger, they actually came to a house upwards of two years later, and Scripture
doesn’t say how many there actually were, and many other inventions that developed over
the centuries. The Bible warns not to follow empty customs.
“Learn not the way of the heathen… For the customs of the people are vain,” Jeremiah
wrote in 10:2. “For one cuts a tree out of the forest … they deck it with silver
and with gold,” Today’s major celebrations may not be Bible
based, but the universal practice of keeping yearly holidays is rooted in ancient commands
IN the Bible to keep certain annual observances. In its pages Almighty Yahweh directed seven
annual Feast days to be kept. Those are: Passover, Feast of Unleavened Bread, Pentecost, Trumpets,
Atonement, and Tabernacles. Ignoring His command, however, each culture DID capitalize on the
practice of yearly holidays and each created and tailored their OWN observances to suit
themselves. There are no other annual holidays commanded
in the Bible other than those specific seven. Christmas is missing, and so is Easter. The
wise men never bowed to the infant in the manger, and then turned to give each other
gifts. And nowhere did the apostles go out with baskets on a certain Sunday morning to
hunt for colored eggs. Yahweh thundered in Leviticus 23:2: “Concerning
the feasts of Yahweh, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are MY
feasts.” Nothing here about Feasts of Israel. He says
they are HIS. The Bible’s holidays are a key part of true
worship. Yet many believe that these seven yearly observances are just Jewish, and that
they themselves have no need for them. But there is good evidence that these days were
in force even at creation, long before Israel even existed.
When it comes to Almighty Yahweh’s Feast days, traditional thinking makes two major
mistakes. First, most assume that the yearly holidays in the Bible are only for those ancient
peoples back then, and second, that these annual holy times are part of a ritualistic
law that was abolished with the coming of the Savior.
Today we will clear up some popular myths. The Feast days are NOT ONLY the original “holidays,”
but these special biblical observances are a part of an ongoing, living law that Yahweh
gave to all people. Not just for a certain ethnic group, but special days for the entire
world to keep. You may be asking, should I observe them?
The answer is simple: yes you should, everyone should, because our Creator commands it as
part of His worship. The tragedy is that these sacred, appointed times have been ignored
and replaced with mostly secular holidays, which even churches have embraced. To replace
worship commanded in the Scriptures with substitutes of any kind, regardless of any religious veneer
added to them, is nothing short of idolatry. Some contend that the Feasts are just part
of old Mosaic ordinances that are no longer in effect.
Did you know that Biblical evidence shows that the very first family, Adam and Eve’s
sons, were keeping these special observances instituted by Yahweh all the way back at the
beginning? Long before Moses? In Genesis 4 we read of the birth of Cain
and Abel. Note how verse 3 is worded. “And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain
brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto Yahweh. And Abel, he also brought of
the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof.”
The phrase, “in the process of time” in Hebrew means “at the end of days” or at
the end of a counting period, which was a special observance when a unique offering
was commanded to be made. This can only point to an established Feast. Abel brought the
right kind of offering, Cain did not. More evidence shows that the Feasts were in
effect before the law was codified on Mt. Sinai.
Psalm 104:19 tells us that Yahweh appointed the moon for seasons. That word “seasons”
means “fixed times or festivals.” The same word is used in Gen. 1:14, where the
sun and moon are created for “seasons,” or moedim in the Hebrew. These celestial bodies
or planets establish Yahweh’s appointed times.
We'll have more on this fascinating subject when we come back.
Have you ever wondered why holidays like Easter and Christmas are not found in the Bible?
Even more perplexing is the fact that we find special days, like the Passover and Pentecost
being observed in both Old and New Testaments. The fact is Easter, Christmas and many of
today's popular holidays are not based on Scripture but evolved from man's secular traditions
going back thousands of years before the Savior. Knowing that these days developed from confusion
of worship, should we observe them today? And more importantly, why would we not honor
the days that our Father appointed in His Word?
The Holy Days that Yahweh established are just as relevant today as they were in Scripture.
They are commanded by our Father in Heaven in the Old Testament, observed by the Messiah
and His apostles in the New Testament, and will be established once more in His Kingdom.

As we have shown, Yahweh in His wisdom built a Biblical Feast calendar right there in the
sky. That is how important His Feasts are. You can choose to ignore them, but there they
are anyway, in a veritable calendar in the heavens!
The very sun and moon above our heads attest to the Bible’s Feasts at each season and
set the times by their movements in the sky. How more permanent and unmovable can Yahweh’s
Feast be when the planets and stars themselves attest to them? These heavenly bodies are
mute witness to a schedule of holidays or holy days that we cannot change.
The feasts are so important that Yahweh also arranged for key biblical events to occur
on them -- from the exodus at Passover to the entering of the Promised Land at that
same time of celebration, to the giving of the law, including the covenant, and the sending
of the Holy Spirit-- all at Pentecost. Another biblical observance, the Feast of Trumpets,
will likely play a big part in the return of Yahshua the Messiah, when He comes back
with the blast of the trumpet. These major events in the Bible took place at the time
of these annual celebrations of Scripture. We see additional proof that Yahweh’s laws,
which include the Feasts, were in effect before Sinai when Moses and Aaron approached Pharaoh
and asked for release of Israel to keep a Feast. This is found in Exodus 3:18; 5:1;
8:25; 10:9; and in Exodus 16:4 Yahweh talks about testing Israel whether they will obey
His laws: “Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out
and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in
my law, or no.” You see, the law was not written and presented
on tablets of stone until the 20th chapter of Exodus when Moses climbs Mt. Sinai. This
means that the law is already in effect before Israel gathered at Sinai. In Exodus 18:16,
while serving as a judge for Israel, Moses is already explaining the law to the people
long before he went to Sinai. “When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge
between one and another, and I do make them know the statutes of Elohim, and his laws.”
Moses said. The many Biblical commands to keep annual
Feast days as special, appointed times, were intended for all who will come into the promise.
But because most of mankind has chosen to ignore them, Yahweh zeroed in on a select
group known as Israelites, to make a covenant agreement with them to keep these times, and
in return to be blessed above all people on earth. By the way, many assume that Israel
and the Jews are the same people. The Jews are so named because they are of the tribe
of Judah. Now Judah was only one small part of Israel. There were a total of 12 tribes
of Israel with Judah being just one of them. So we can dismiss the idea out of hand that
these Feasts are only for Jews. They were given to ALL Israel in a special covenant.
When the northern 10 tribes of Israel were scattered they migrated to many nations, and
no doubt to western nations as well. This means that in many nations of the world live
the offspring of Israel, those who were specially given the laws of Yahweh, including the feasts
of the Bible. Recall that He commanded the Feasts for all generations. Just that fact
alone tells us we should at least be witnessing hundreds of millions of people observing the
Feasts today. These days are in fact decreed for ALL who will take hold of the same promise
given to Israel. And you don’t have to be a physical Israelite
to obey Yahweh, either. Paul explains who Israelites are today:
He asks, “Who are Israelites” and then answers, “to whom pertaineth the adoption,
and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of Elohim,
and the promises."Romans 9:4. Anyone who seeks the promise of salvation
and becomes part of the family of the Most High Elohim is considered an Israelite. And
therefore because the Bible’s laws and Feasts were commanded for Israel, they are also for
the very Truth Seeker now, today. Most have been taught that the Feasts are
part of the law that was abolished by Yahshua’s death, and therefore are no longer in effect.
However, it was only the ceremonial/ritual law that was changed by Yahshua’s death,
as we find in Hebrews 9:10 and foretold in Isaiah 1:11-20. Only the priesthood and the
way the law is administered has changed. The rest of the law stands.
We must be careful not to throw the baby out with the bathwater and say the entire law
is abolished. The law is the code that Yahweh and His Son Yahshua live by. If the whole
law were abolished, then we no longer can know what sin is and by what standard we should
live. It is because of the law that we understand sin. Paul in Romans 3:20 says, “For by the
law is the knowledge of sin.” What’s even more remarkable is that sin does not exist
without law. He also wrote in Romans 4:15: “For where no law is, there is no transgression.”
In other words if there is no speed limit you can’t be charged with speeding. If there
is no biblical law in effect, you can’t be a sinner.
The Scriptures teach five kinds of law: Spiritual/moral law, like the 10 commandments
Commercial/civil law, governing interpersonal and business relationships
Ceremonial/ritual law—governing priestly activities and worship
Natural law, the laws of nature Judicial law—those dealing with crime and
punishment. We have a lot more about this subject. Stay
tuned and we'll come right back! Have you ever wondered why holidays like Easter

Welcome back! OF the five categories of law in the Bible
the annual Feasts fall under the moral, spiritual law—those laws that shape character and
lead to everlasting life. They are part of the 10 commandments and other character-shaping
laws. When we keep Yahweh’s Feasts we draw closer
to Yahweh and understand His plan for His people better. Which has a direct impact on
us, strengthening our faith and leading to a closer walk.
Yahweh chose the people of Israel because of His covenant with their forefather Abraham.
He did not single out any others. As Paul explains, others who have a desire for salvation
can be grafted in to that same relationship and receive the promises. And that includes
Feast observance and the other laws. But didn’t the Savior fulfill and eliminate
the need to obey? It’s a common question. 1John 2:5 is a key passage speaking of the
Messiah Yahshua. “But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of Elohim
perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself
also so to walk, even as he walked. Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an
old commandment which you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you
have heard from the beginning.” John makes two very key points here.
First, if we say we love and follow Yahshua the Messiah then we must walk as He did. We
must pattern our lives after His, and that means keeping the same observances and commands
that He did. Second, John says to follow the commandments
you heard “from the beginning.” These points are combined in v. 24, where
John says to continue in the Son AND in the Father. This means to obey one is the same
as obeying the other. The Son Yahshua did not come to change the faith His Father Yahweh
commanded in the Old Testament. In fact, He obeyed His Father and that included His Father
Yahweh’s laws. He said in John 14:31, “But that the world may know that I love the Father;
and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do.”
He taught from the Old Testament, the only Bible in existence at the time.
As we have seen, the moedim or fixed observances known as Feasts were in operation at the beginning—with
our first family. They extend beyond Israel, to all peoples.
We are instructed simply to walk as Yahshua walked. This contradicts the belief that Yahshua
was sent to get rid of His Father Yahweh’s laws by fulfilling them, and therefore obliterating
them after His death. That is simply NOT TRUE. We are told specifically
and plainly to “walk as He walked.” This begs the question, how did Yahshua the
Messiah walk? Was He obedient to the law or was He law-less? Did He set an example for
us by His obedient walk? Or by being law-less? Were the Feasts part of His walk? Absolutely!
Let’s look at a few examples: In Luke 2:42 we read that as a child He went
with His parents to keep Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread.
As an adult, in Matthew 26:18 and Luke 22:11 we find Yahshua observing Passover and the
Feast of unleavened Bread. He instructed His disciples to stay in Jerusalem in Acts 1:4
to wait for the giving of the Spirit at the approaching Feast of Pentecost.
In John 7:10 we read that He went up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles, and during this
Feast He taught the people, verse 14. Again on the Last Great Day of the Feast in
John 7:37 Yahshua stands up and teaches in the synagogue from the Old Testament.
Now if Yahshua the Messiah is teaching from the Old Testament, which includes Yahweh’s
laws, and we read in John to walk as He walked, then it is clear. We must follow all the Bible,
including the law that is taught and practiced in both testaments. The Savior did the same.
Yahweh says in Exodus 12:14 to keep the Feast “forever.” He is talking to the only nation
He ever made a covenant with—Israel. Walk as Yahshua walked. Follow the commandment
you heard from the beginning, the Bible says. Base your faith on the same Scriptures Yahshua
and the Apostles did—the Old Testament. There was no other testament at that time.
We learn that even after the Savior’s death and resurrection that the Apostles and disciples
continued keeping Yahweh’s Feasts. You would think that these Apostles, taught by the living
Savior daily for three years, would have been informed that now in the New Testament, you
can stop keeping the Feasts and weekly seventh-day Sabbath because they're Jewish! AND there
is no sense in doing so anyway because the Savior would shortly abolish the law at His
death, so why obey for a mere three more years? On the contrary. There was no New Testament,
and the Messiah kept these days with His disciples. He showed them how to keep the Passover with
new meaning, He told them to wait in Jerusalem until Pentecost when they would receive the
Holy Spirit on that sacred Feast. We need to look at one more key teaching regarding
the Feasts. The Feasts represent a plan for man from the
beginning, as we saw in Genesis. The plan involves His people today, and beyond us today,
even into the Kingdom. When Yahweh says these are ordinances “forever,”
that is just what He means. No fewer than 4 times in Leviticus 23 Yahweh declares the
Feasts a statute “forever.” Does forever end where the New Testment begins? Or did
He mean forever until His Kingdom comes? Forever means the Feasts are endless statutes. They
have no end. Yahshua the Messiah promised to keep the Passover
again with His disciples in the Kingdom, in Matthew 26:29.
Isaiah 66 speaks of the Millennial Kingdom to be established on this earth. We learn
that when Yahshua sets up His Kingdom rule on this earth that everyone will come to keep
Yahweh’s appointed times. “And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another,
and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith Yahweh,”
