I am extraordinarily proud to have this show
be my Broadway debut.
It's a show that I think is terrific.
I feel like this company represents everything that I
always want theater to be.
We started the rehearsals with--
for each parable-- just the Bible verse.
And then we figure it out as a group together, how we want to
tell it and what we're going to do.
So it really is--
it's essentially going to be modern, because we are and
that's our frame of reference.
When the lights all blasted off at the top of "Prepare
Ye," when the water comes down,
that was really exciting.
And then sort of went back and forth and watched people
watching the show and watched people watching
me watch the show.
And that's really weird because that
only happens at circle.
Sometimes people make it into a proscenium at circle, but we
felt like, if we're going to do this show on Broadway, we
might as well make it as much of an experience as possible.
And that means doing a musical in the round, putting the
musicians all over the place.
And really making it a love letter to the theater.
And making it a real experience, so that if you're
seeing Godspell or if you've seen Godspell before, you've
never seen it like this.
