Welcome to the Fair Work Ombudsman PayCheck Plus guide.
This video shows you how to check the pay rate for specific jobs.
You’ll be able to find out the hourly rate and penalty rate, as well as overtime rates
and allowances as they apply to that job.
You can even calculate the total pay for a shift worked over a seven day period.
So let’s get started!
Tell us about yourself so we can work out your pay!
Telling us where you live, the dates you want pay from and if you’re an adult, junior,
apprentice or trainee helps us to determine your rate of pay.
Tell us about your job – your occupation, and whether you’re full-time, part-time
or casual.
Also give us the details of the business you are working for.
Now click to find your modern award.
One or more modern awards fitting your description will now appear.
Select “View Description” for the one that best fits your circumstances.
A detailed overview of that award will appear.
Read this carefully to make sure it’s a match.
Now click on it to confirm, select your classification and add any extra detail if prompted.
Then click to select your pre-modern award.
You will now be given an overview of the information you have provided so far and one or more pre-modern
award options to choose from.
These give even more specifics, so view the descriptions and choose the one that fits
your job to find your base pay rate.
Click to proceed.
Once loaded, PayCheck Plus will display your hourly rate of pay.
You can print this page, export it to your computer for more information on how your
rates were calculated, or click Save Session to return to it next time you log in.
Or you can now calculate allowances or penalty rates that apply for your position. To do
this click Proceed to Add Allowances.
A list of possible allowances will now display on the next page. Click on the plus and minus
symbols of each one to view details.
Do any of the allowances apply to you?
If so, select them in the column to the right and click to select your penalties.
On the next page a list of common penalties will display that you may be entitled to depending
on your work pattern, hours and overtime.
This will load the Base Rates Summary screen with your hourly rate.
You can print, export or view a Pay and Conditions Guide for your modern and pre-modern award
by selecting the link for ‘more information’.
If you want to calculate your pay for a total shift, click Proceed to Add Shifts.
On the next page, simply enter the start date of your shift, click Add, and PayCheck Plus
will display the next seven working days.
Enter the hours you worked and your break times for each day.
If you selected any relevant allowances earlier, these will now appear. Choose any that apply
to that shift.
Do the same for any penalties you selected earlier.
Click to see your shift rates.
Your shift rates for each day will now display along with total hours and total earnings
for that shift including all allowances and penalties you have selected.
You can print the page, export it to your computer, save the session and come back to
it next time.
