C-A-R-D-S, Cards! RaiseRed is an 18-hour dance marathon. We fundraised all year long and
this is actually the celebration for it. I've been involved with RaiseRed for a long time.
It's one of my favorite events of the year and we have a lot of fun with it. It's been
a long year. We've done a lot of hard work and fundraising and this is basically just
our celebration. All of the money we raised goes to Dr. Kim Lucas at the University of
Louisville Department of Pediatric Oncology, hematology, and Stem Cell Transplant Clinic.
Dr. Lucas is looking to spend about half the money hiring a social worker, which they desperately
need right now, to relate to the kids and the families and making sure that they get
all the support they need when they're getting these terrible diagnoses and then we want
to make sure that the other half goes to research because he's doing ground-breaking research.
I definitely want to go into a field in pediatrics. I want to become an occupational therapist
for peds, so this just really hits home for me and it's also just one of the events on
campus that everybody can come together and just make a huge impact. This is definitely
something that stuck with me for four years because I had such a great time freshman year
and it's only gotten better. Our transition to RaiseRed from ULDM this year is just, this
is gonna be the biggest and the best one yet.
