We're driving the Opel Corsa OPC today.
It's the quickest Corsa.
It's not unfamiliar to us, we've already used one to go to Frankfurt with.
But we haven't made a video of it yet...
...but it deserves one because it's a nice little car.
OPC stands for Opel Performance Center...
...that's Opel's performance range. And it does perform.
192 hp from a 1.6 turbo engine.
0-62 in 7.2 seconds and a top speed of 140 mph.
It goes like stink.
All those numbers are nice...
...but what's it like in real life?
It's quite all right. It weighs less than 1,200 kg (2646 lbs)...
...and those 192 are more than sufficient.
The engine stays sharp.
No matter what gear you're in, it always responds just fine.
When you floor it, it really goes.
It sounds very nice for a 4-cylinder engine.
That's just in line with its looks. Opel makes their OPC models look striking.
Other manufacturers keep it basic, they make a wolf in sheep's clothing.
And Opel just makes a loud car. With its big wheels...
...spoiler and triangular exhaust.
It immediately gives away that it's a performance automobile.
There's plenty of choice if you want a hot hatch.
So do we recommend you to buy this car?
It costs just under 28 grand, but that does get you a lot of car.
No it doesn't? -Doesn't it? I think it's pretty complete.
Not at all, you can get a Seat Leon FR for 30 grand.
That's twice as much car.
You pay a fair bit of money for this car, about 28 grand.
For a grand more you can get a Clio Gordini RS.
And for a lot less you can shop at ***.
Like a Polo GTI. But they're a lot less exciting with their 1.4 liter engines.
This car just has some extra punch.
That 1.6 liter turbo engine convinces, it just goes.
I think it's a fine car.
It looks good, it performs.
I'm smiling all the time.
And it's yellow. You know what Wouter says about yellow cars: chick magnets.
