Hi, I'm Adrian Aredo.
I was born on August 26, 1929, so I'm about to be 75 years old.
My name is Esther Agus.
I'm 64 years old, and I was born in 1940.
I started to dance around the age of 10 or 12 in the salons of Curro Manrique,
with Orquesta Casino.
I started to dance around 1961, when I met my partner.
I would dance in the Casino de la Playa...
...in parties, during carnaval...
At the time, everyone was dancing cha-cha-chá, guaracha, danzón, and son.
So when did rueda de casino come about?
At first, it wasn't "rueda de casino", but just "rueda".
People just said, "Let's dance rueda."
We didn't really know each other, but we formed a huge circle,
and there were no established moves or calls,
but the leader of the rueda simply raised his hand and we all went to look for a partner.
If you couldn't find a partner in time, you were left out of the rueda.
And everyone started to dance - 20 or 30 couples,
and if you weren't able to grab a partner, you couldn't join the group.
And then later they called it "rueda de casino".
One of my favorite singers was Laíto, from Sonora Matancera.
He had a very good voice, and his dancing with Sonora Matancera was marvelous.
Later on, he recorded the song "Idilio", which became very famous,
and is one of my favorite songs to dance to.
