>> And now, reknowned chef Tom Douglas interviews Tom Douglas.
>> Tom, chef Douglas, author extraordinaire, um, spice rub magician.
Thank you so much for being here.
Iron chef winner.
Your accolades proceed you.
>> Well, thanks for having me today.
Who knew I was going to be interviewed by such a famous chef, a celebrity chef no less.
Because celebrity chefs, they're the best chefs, they know how to cook better than anybody else.
So I'm glad that you've thought fit to spare a little bit of your time for me today.
So the word on the street is, or rumor has it as aDele would say, you might run for mayor?
I don't think I would run for mayor, but I certainly have a few opinions on what I would do as mayor.
Number 1 is I would make every day Seattle coconut cream pie day.
Everybody would have to have a bite of coconut cream pie.
Because from my experience, every time someone takes a bite of that pie, it puts a smile on their face.
And with the lack of sunshine we have around here, a smile could do a lot to brighten up the world, and especially the world here in Seattle.
To so first thing I would do as mayor is make it mandatory that with your Starbucks in the morning, you have to have a bite of coconut cream pie.
What else would you do as mayor?
I would go out to dinner.
Is that it?
And I would institute the three-martini lunch.
Appear all you got?
Is that your game?
When I was growing up, they would start at about 1:00, and they would have their last martini at about 4:35, and then they would order dinner.
That's the way business should get done.
So if you want to reach across the aisle, that's the way to do that.
Can't believe he said that.
I know you like a lot of spice.
What's your favorite spice, baby, ginger, sport or posh?
My favorite spice is old spice.
That smell is amazing.
Is there any food you haven't cooked or that you would never cook again?
I have no interest in cooking that Philippine, what's that called, the bird that's kind of been formed in its shell and then you eat it, kind of a half grown bird, ah, not for me.
It's Baloot, dummy.
The thing that I like to cook is duck, it comes up over and over, what's your favorite thing to cook?
I'm terrified of what my last meal will be.
I feel like as a chef, everyone's gonna want to know once I kick the bucket, what was his last dinner?
That's always a question.
So every time I go on an airplane, I don't want to eat the food because I don't want it to be said that my last dinner was on a delta airline to Dallas, and it was some sort of nonsense on a plate.
So I don't eat the food because of that.
I would eat gold fish or something before I would eat that dinner.
But duck, I like duck in every way.
And if it's my last meal, I'd be happy to have that on my epithet.
>> Chef Douglas, you've been inspiring, you're remarkable, much more handsome than your pictures.
Thanks for being here.
