The first tutorial that we'll
start with in our DinerMagic
program
is your home page,
and when you received your DinerMagic package, when you're able to log on, your home page will
pretty much be blank, like so.
So to access the editor
will click on Home Page
and this will take us to your
Edit page here.
At the top we'll see the page title and beneath that key words, then we have a rich text formatter
and then an
area to put our information in.
But starting with the title, the page title here at the top,
this will be the title,
the name of your web site
and it could be something as simple as the name of your restaurant;
in this case we're using "Welcome to..."
Keywords
keywords are descriptors
of what you do, where you're at, the type of food perhaps, of whatever
description you want the search engines to look for.
One word typically
commas separating
things such as ethnic dishes, that sort of thing, that's where you would want
to put in keywords there.
Below this is our rich tax editor
and if you use a word processor you're probably pretty familiar with this.
You can bold, italicize, underline, change
font sizes
cut copy and paste
change the text color,
that sort of thing.
You can also insert images with this button here,
but let's save that for later I don't recommend inserting any images until
you know how, for sure, to do so.
I've already created my text in a word processor and so I'm going to import it
by cutting and pasting
and if we look at it will see that it's not formatted very well, it just all runs
together so we'll put some break points in here--
paragraph breaks
and our hours down here; we need to separate them out just a little bit,
hit our return,
take the extra space out here
and then we want to
Update the page and make sure that
you always have to update
the changes wont be made unless you do so.
And so we'll update
and let's go and preview our page
and we can see that the homepage is now filled in.
I'm just looking at this; there is a gap
right here underneath the title
and the hours don't really stand out very well so let's
format that.
First we'll take this extra space out here
and then let's drop down
look at our hours here.
What I'm going to do is select this line right here and increase the font size to fourteen
points, I'm going to bold it
then let's put some color on it; so we choose a dark red here
and then I want to take this line out
so I'm just going to
put the cursor in there and backspace, then we're going to Update
and let's preview it again.
It looks a little bit better, doesn't it?
That's pretty much as simple is it is to edit the homepage
