Hello
Today I'm going to show you how to create an American Sociological Association citation
for a book with two authors.
Then, you'll be able to create one on your own.
Let's get started!
Here we have a citation for a book with two authors.
The parts of this citation include:
The author statement
The year of publication
The title of the book
The place of publication
And the publisher name.
Let's take a closer look at these parts.
We'll start with the author statement.
Here we have two authors. The first author's name is inverted,
meaning that the last name is first, followed by a comma, and then the first name and middle
initial.
The author names are separated by the word "and," and the second author's name is written
normally: first name, middle initial, then last name.
The author statement is followed by a period.
Next, include the year of publication followed by a period.
Also be sure to include the book title. Make sure you italicize your book title, and make
a note that most of the words in this title have been capitalized.
The book title ends with a period.
In ASA format, when you create a second or third or subsequent lines, be sure to indent
your lines three spaces. Also be sure to double space.
The next part of this citation is the place of publication. Here we have a city and a
state.
If you have a city and a state, be sure to include a comma between the city and the state.
Follow your place of publication with a colon.
Finally, include the publisher name. The publisher name should be followed by a period.
And that's how easy it is to create an ASA citation for a book with two authors.
If you have questions about ASA format, stop by the library's reference department.
