I composed the pieces for this album over the last years, spent about 6 months on the arrangements.
We rehearsed for about a month and recorded it all in 4 days, just like that.
– The soundcheck will be recorded already!
– This tempo is working out fine, right Dé?
Most of the album was recorded in a basic trio structure.
With Sidiel Vieira on bass, Thiago Rabello on drums,
and a few guest appearances by Dani Gurgel on vocals,
Vitor Alcântara on soprano sax and Guilherme Ribeiro on the accordion.
I wrote 3 arrangements for 'Septeto S/A', a group that I am part of.
We've played every Monday for more than 4 years at São Cristóvão [venue in São Paulo].
– This one is done!
– I played this song very softly. I'll play the samba a bit more [plrr].
That one is powerful.
– Reaches every note I've got... – And ends in the basement...
The four days of recording were magical.
– I'll have to disturb the recording as soon as my team scores...
– So let's go check the score of the São Paulo team game.
– Get out of my way... – Get him Vitor!
– I already messed everything up...
– "Ah", the drum solo. I did it like that. Later I did it again, and Sidiel did too, with the bow...
– It sounded great, groovy!
Everyone took the project as if it were their own.
They did everything with joy, and with their hearts.
You can hear it in the music.
– Is this one going to fade out or do you want to come up with an ending?
– No, fade out. – OK.
– I think it should fade out, don't you?
– Cmmd + S! [save]
– Wow, beautiful! This is the one, let's listen to it!
– Let's listen! – Let's listen!
– I don't think so too, let's listen!
– Wow, it sounded great! – Very good!
This was a good take, right?
– If you record another one, I'll never talk to you again!
