Hi, my name is Clint Schambach, I am a St Louis Fitness Trainer and also run a St Louis
Fitness Boot Camp.
People constantly ask me this, and I finally decided to answer the question of
when is the best time of day to workout? Is it morning, afternoon, or 2 A.M.
The science is all over the place on this. It is very common for people to read that
for best results, do your cardio in the morning.
And for more strength training and weight lifting, do it later in the day.
But what if you are doing fat loss workouts in the morning, but they are resistance training
rather than cardio.
You can come up with a million different variations of this, and in my opinion, it doesn’t matter
what the circumstances are.
Science can’t make up their mind with this, and next year there will be a new study claiming
they finally have the answer.
I find its much more of a personal preference, or it depends on your schedule. Maybe your
workout times change depending on the day.
In my opinion…. Who cares, just get it in.
I firmly believe that it doesn’t really matter when you workout, as long as you get
your workout finished. If I told you that you must workout at 5 am, and it will double
results, and you hate mornings, what good is that if you workout half asleep.
No one knows your body better than you. So you know when you can get it in. Having said
that, try out different times. It doesn’t hurt.
I know there are some people that thought they would hate working out in the morning
and ended up loving it.
Now, let me stick my foot in my mouth a little bit. I do think that morning workouts can
really prime your body for the rest of the day, meaning, I find sometimes that people
are much more likely to eat healthy, get their meals in, and overall feel better and more
energized.
Also, people are far more likely to make up excuses after work, they are too tired, have
to stay late, happy hours, they all just mean you are missing your workout.
So bottom line, just look at your schedule and plan ahead. Don’t just look for a possible
time, Make a time, and treat it like any other meeting, and you can’t skip it.
