Another style of Connecticut shelf clock or mantle clock is the cottage clock. These were
perhaps the most simple to make. They're basically rectangles but often with a little embellishment
down in the bottom of beveled or curved feet. Again, veneered cases. Little bit of veneer
damage here. You can look for that and if that bothers you, you'll just know that you're
going to probably spend a lot to repair that properly. Most people it doesn't bother. You
can expect to see that as long as most of the veneer is intact. Reverse paint glass
again, pretty little scene here. This is by the Ansonia Clock Company. We talked about
them. Early on they were in the business along with the others of making pretty, simple,
affordable clocks before they got into the fancier case styles. A simple metal dial with
printed patterns on it and luckily I wasn't going to try to make this one strike because
as we see, it's just a time piece. A single winding hole. All this is going to do is tick
and tell you the time.
