UNESCO said it back in '87
it's a part of our planet, but it looks like heaven
dubbed a national park back in '73
the most natural place that you ever did see
Thank you very much James Cook and Jacques Cartier
and to the first nations people who showed them the way
now we got ourselves over one hundred K
of trails, of whales, what more should I say?
Gros Morne! Sound the fog horn
Tell all of Canada that they've been warned
about a place that's impossible not to like
and when you get there man you gotta take a hike
Gros Morne, Newfoundland!
If you're going anywhere else change your plans
It's worth the trip, to say the least
so stop where your going
and go to the east!
Gros Morne means a large mountain standing alone
I'm envious of anyone who's ever called it their home
Is there anywhere that anybody knows
where the boreal forest meets the arctic snows of the tundra
that flow into the sea
you can smell the ocean and feel the breeze
and as you walk the trails, man check the trees
and if you see the tablelands, you shall be pleased
You got seals, caribou and real bald eagles
so much wildlife it's barely legal
there's salmon, cod, halibut and lobster fishing
but right now the park man it's on a mission
We're dealing with our ecological integrity
Cause there are too many moose in the moose colony
they're eating up the boreal vegetation
so take one home and help the moose population
There are one thousand eight hundred square kilometres
So many hikes that it will bust your pedometers!
Rocks that are 1.2 billion years old
And if anybody asks you can say you been told about
Gros Morne! Sound the fog horn
Tell all of Canada that they've been warned
about a place that's impossible not to like
when you get there man, you gotta take a hike
Gros Morne, Newfoundland!
If you're going anywhere else change your plans
It's worth the trip, to say the least
so stop where your going,
and go to the east!
