Hello and welcome to Cupcake Addiction's Minnie Mouse Cakepop Tutorial where I'll be showing
you how to make this cute Minnie Mouse cakepop, the perfect accompaniment to our Mickey Mouse
cakepop and sure to please the Disney fan in your life.
Tools and equipment that we will be using today:
I've got a polystyrene block which I'm using to stand and set my cakepops in today.
I've got a pre-rolled cakepop ball. We do have great recipe and tutorial on our channel
My Cupcake Addiction for getting your cakepop made and ready to dip and decorate. So if
you don't have a great recipe, check that out. I will leave a link in the description
box below. I'll also mention, this one has been refrigerated for at least 20 minutes
after being made so it is really nice and firm.
I've got 2 lollipop sticks. A cocktail stick or a toothpick.
I've got 2 teaspoons. One knife.
I've got some melted black candy melts. I've got some melted white chocolate which
I've just colored with a little bit of Wilton rose pink color paste. You can also, of course,
use pink candy melts. I've got a premade little fondant or modeling
chocolate bow. I've got some little mini Oreo cookies.
Let's get started. The first thing we want to do is split open
our Oreo cookie so I'd like to use a knife to do this. I know you can split them but
I just find them a little bit easy to use a knife. And scrape off any of that extra
Oreo cream. Pop that off to the side. Now you want to make just a small incision.
Pick your best and roundest side for Minnie's face and just make a small incision in the
middle of her head on either side. That's just going to be a bit of a guide for where
we're going to put this Oreos. Now with your Oreos, you want the flat side
that the cream has been on to be facing forward. It just gives you a really nice defined Minnie
Mouse ear. So just push them into the cakepop -- 1 and 2. And you want them to be not quite
meeting in the middle. So you can see there there's a little bit of a gap.
Once you've done that, pull them back out. Dip your Oreo into that black candy melt and
place it back into that lovely little wedge. That's going to make our ears stick beautifully
into that cakepop ball so that they don't fall out when we're going to dip. I'm going
to pop that one off into the refrigerator for about 5 minutes just until that ear chocolate
has completely set. And then we'll come back to continue decorating.
We're back from the fridge and I'm happy that my chocolate seal is nice and set. Now remembering
that the front of your Minnie Mouse head is going to be the flat side of your Oreos where
that cream has been removed. You want to take one of your spoons and just
give that chocolate or those candy melts a really nice stir to make sure that they're
as thin and as runny as possible for dipping. Now because you've used the chocolate to hold
the ears in, they should stick at this point. So give that a tap on the bench. You want
that to be nice and level and nice and even so that when we dip our Minnie Mouse, we can
dip her and get a nice even line. So dip her down to about halfway. Pull her up. Working
quite quickly here because you don't want that to start drying, dip your lollipop stick
into that melted chocolate and pop it up into Minnie's head. Now give Minnie a bit of a
tap off just to tap off any excess. Your Minnie Mouse should be looking like this.
I'm going to set her down in the polystyrene block until she's completely dry and then
we'll get to the next stage of dipping. Now my Minnie Mouse is completely dry on her
pink half. I'm going to take those black candy melts, give them a really good stir. I will
also mention, I've used quite a bit of Copha which is a clear vegetable shortening for
us here in Australia. But you can also use Crisco or just a regular vegetable fat or
vegetable shortening. And I've used quite a bit of that to thin my candy melts out.
I find the candy melts really really thick to begin with so I always thin them out. There's
no exact measurement. I just melt it down in the microwave and I add it to my melted
candy melts, and stir until I'm happy with the consistency. So give that another tap
off to make sure we're going to get a nice even line.
Take your Minnie Mouse and it's time to dip her. So upside down she goes into the black
candy melts. And we want to just meet that candy melt up just over that line of pink
chocolate there. In she goes. Now I've found a little bit of difficulty with getting that
candy melt to meet up just underneath her ears so make sure that you give her a little
tilt, not too much. You don't want it to be an uneven line.
Pull her out. Tap her off in this direction first. And I've find that just helps to give
you nice definition between the ears. Now if you do find on your sides at all... You
can see there, I've got a little tiny bit of cakepop showing through. As I mentioned
that candy melt just hasn't quite met up with the pink seal. That's what our toothpick's
for. Just take a little bit of that candy melt while that's all still wet and just cover
that over. Helps to neaten up your line and also make sure that your cakepop ball is completely
sealed in. You definitely don't want any cakepop showing through. Alright.
Now if you find that your line is not a 100% neat. I'm pretty happy with that. But if you
find you want to neaten it up, you can just run your finger along and you'll actually
be able to just wipe off some of that black candy melt while it's still quite wet and
you will be able to neaten up that line. Now taking your beautiful little fondant or
modeling chocolate bow, pop it in between her ears while that's still wet.
And there you've got your gorgeous little Minnie Mouse cakepop.
Now as an optional extra, she does sometimes like to wear a polka dotted dress. So you
can take a little bit off just regular melted white chocolate or melted white candy melts
with that second lollipop stick. And just dab on some dots, so really just in a bit
of a polka dotty type fashion, we're just going to dot them on. And that will finish
her off. If you love this tutorial, make sure that

do find any of them are a little bit raised, just use your finger and just neaten them
off. So there you have your Minnie Mouse cakepop,
ready to go and join your Mickey Mouse cakepop and perfect for your next Disney-themed event.
