(Julie Mizer) At the Attire for Hire Closet we try to help
people in their career search to wear appropriate professional
attire to their job interviews.
And we know that sometimes people that have been out of
work may not have extremely up-to-date clothing.
So we try to help them put together an outfit that'll be
appropriate for whatever kind of job they're interviewing for.
(Julie Mizer) A typical night would be probably 15 to 20 men
and women coming in and looking for particular sizes.
"I have an interview at a bank."
" I have an interview with a software firm."
"What do you think would be right for me to wear?"
So we'll talk a little bit about what it is that they're going
in for on the interview because that will determine
whether we'll put them in a formal suit or in something
a little more casual.
Sometimes we have the right sizes.
If we don't we encourage people to check the following
job networking because we get basically donations
usually every week or two.
So we'll help them come up with an outfit.
And if we can, we will dress them head to toe.
For gentlemen we'll try to do tie, shirt, slacks.
For women we'll try to do a suit, a dress or slacks,
even handbags or shoes if we have them.
(Julie Mizer) We want them to feel like it's almost a
boutique experience, that they're coming in and
we're here just to help them as kind of pseudo sales people,
to make them feel good about their choices,
to be honest with them.
If we don't think something fits appropriately or might
now be the right thing for the interview.
We have a fitting room.
We have mirrors that they can come out and take a look at.
And it's very exciting and fun when we get an outfit
someone feels good in.
And you can just tell. They get a glow.
And you really hope they're gonna do well in the interview
because they look terrific.
