Hi. I'm Karen Brenan.
And I'm Mitchel Resnick.
And it is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 2013 Scratch Day.
Can you believe this is the fifth Scratch Day?
It's really amazing.
For the past 5 years, you and I have been getting together
to welcome everyone to Scratch Day.
Yeah, it' s always exciting on Scratch Day
to see Scratchers around the world, come together
to share experiences and learn from one another.
It's a special time to get together
and share the passion and persistence that underlies Scratch activities.
But also the people. The powerful connections are made between people.
I'm hoping that there will be people from lots of different backgrounds and interests
will come together
and collaborate and meet each other
who possibly have met each other before.
People get together every day with Scratch on the online community.
and educators at ScratchEd.
But there is something special
about meeting in person, face to face, to share with one another.
It's exciting that so many Scratch Day events taking place all around the world.
I think more than a hundred Scratch Day events, I think more than 40 countries.
I'm excited to see people using Scratch in their own language
and at the same time interacting and sharing at the same place.
This year, there is something special to be excited about?
Yeah. So, today is the official public unveiling of the next generation of Scratch.
Scratch 2.0.
So what are you most looking forward to Scratch 2.0?
I am excited about cloud data, where
you can use Scratch to store data online
and create project with high score and surveys
I'm excited because Scratch 2.0.
It's easier to create and share things to get feedback
from the community very quickly,
and then, make more changes so your projects get cooler and cooler.
I'm really excited about the video sensing feature
because you can move your body
and you can interact with the things on the screen like bubbles, balloons, music and more.
I'm really excited about the fact
when you go to a project of Scratch 2.0 on Web site
and if you want to see how someone made it, you just click "see inside" and
you can see the script right there.
And you can start experimenting and changing the script
right inside the Web browser.
I'm really excited about the studios on Scratch 2.0.
We have a better eco-system of how they are integrated into the web site.
You can check out the projects on the studios and follow them on home page
You can review others on the studio
and you can also explore new studios you find interesting on the web site.
I am really looking forward to people's response to Scratch 2.0.
I think they're going to be very excited about it.
I can't wait to see what people do with it.
And you can share the experience of your special Scratch Day
by posting photos on Flicker, videos on YouTube
and your special Scratch projects on the Scratch Web site
You can visit the Scratch Day Web Site for links how to do all of that.
It's really great to have this annual event
where the whole scratch community comes together.
But it is not about this one day.
Scratch happens everyday of the year.
So it is really, I want to thank every one, all the young people to parents,
educators comes together to make Scratch what it is.
Thank you so much and we hope you have a wonderful Scratch Day.
Happy Scratch Day.
