Dog finds way home across busy motorway and moorlands. When Jack, a whippet-terrier cross
dog, went missing in a park many miles away from home in South Yorkshire, England, human
caregivers David and Liz Cooper as well as their friends and neighbors searched continuously
for the next day-and-a-half. With no success, Mr. Cooper had called off the search, only
to find Jack curled up on their doorstep! Remarkably, Jack's 15-mile journey back home
would have required crossing one of England's busiest motorways, the M1 as well as four
major roads. This would have necessitated exceptional courage from the canine, as he
is known to show general fear of traffic and walks with a limp from a car accident five
years earlier. Mrs. Liz Cooper, a veterinarian who burst into tears when Jack was found,
said, "I’ve asked all my colleagues at work if they can tell me how dogs can navigate
when they’ve never been somewhere before, but they’re just as baffled as me. Everyone
thinks it’s quite amazing."
Bravo and congratulations Jack on your incredible journey back home! May God bless you and your
beloved human companions with many more happy times together as we are all reminded of the
devoted love of our cherished animal companions.
