I record and compose hip hop music.
I write my own tunes and record other artists but my main work is with my band Downsyde.
I look through all sorts of records for inspiration.
The tracks are made of samples and live instruments.
I record them into the computer and use music production
software to adjust each sound separately and make the final mix.
Then we record each other rhyming over the top.
Can you just drop the beat for us? All right.
Bring the bass up just a little bit.
Yeah, that's fat man. I'm feeling it.
Flute sounds nice.
I'll do a take.
Anyone if they had enough...
I did cert three in basic music industry skills
at TAFE to learn more about music production.
And there I met the guys from my band.
i'll just have a listen to this. Yeah, lets do it.
Yeah, it's nice man. I'm feeling it.
If you bring the flute in, swap it over.
Yeah, then drop it in. That's it.
My grandfather taught me how to play keyboard.
I learnt classical guitar in school and I've been playing drums all my
life so I've merged all those skills in together with the computer.
I'll bring the drums out at the start. Yep.
Sweet man. That sounds fat. I'm feeling it. Nice.
I'm feeling it definitely.
Hip hop is a way of life.
We often write lyrics together and feed off each other.
It's called freestyling.
We freestyle live, we freestyle when we are
writing and when we're just hanging out.
What about like, I spit linguistics, hear it, feel the spirit,
what I inhibit, makes me pivot from this point, if I'm in the galaxy,
check it out then dazza's got a strategy, come battle me,
that's what I said in my last song, I never go wrong, my
point is always right, what I recite brings to light.
Something like that.
What's the damage, it's disaster coming through and
I'm on a rampage like Donkey Kong with some...
That's right cause I got the need like I'm making bread,
you know that I said the words coming out of my mouth and
that's no doubt it's the truth so Scotty what's up with you?
You got something to say? I know always you got a spray.
What I spray or the game that I play.
Freestyles I think of it, at any day, any week, any time that I spit
it, it's always the same. Always good. And I aint no one to blame.
I point a point blank aim. Is that the stain? Is that what I maintain? It's never strange, if
I change my direction, we're writing a song right now with perfection now we need a chorus.
What do you reckon Dazza O,
no time for flaws?
Yep, no time for flaws.
The choice is yours. That's your selection, no time for flaws.
Sorry, stuffed up the rhythm a bit, we'll go again.
The choice is yours. That your selection, no time for flaws. It's perfection.
Yeah that's wicked man.
Anyone who wants to be sound engineer needs to stick at it and keep the love for it.
