Do you know how to save money on organic meat?
Organic costs two to three times as much as standard fruits, vegetables and meats. If
you want to be a carnivore, you may not be able to afford the organic label.
What’s another option?
Get a hunting permit and fishing permit. Catch your own wild, free range organic meat.
Very funny. What’s another option?
Go vegetarian and eat organic soy based synthetic meats.
You’re making this hard.
It is hard. The next choice is use Depression era recipes to stretch the meat, like using
a few ounces of meat in stew and reusing leftover broth.
And they had hot dog and potato casseroles, and mock sausage made from lima beans.
I’d mock that fake sausage, too.
I suppose I could make meatloaf instead of burgers.
You could go for hormone free or free range meat, which may or may not be organic. By
looking for a variety of labels, you may find products with a lower price.
Though it is still too expensive for your tastes.
If meat prices go up too much higher, the neighbor’s dog will end up on my grill.
At least we aren’t resorting to cannibalism.
Yet. Then again, that meat isn’t organic, either.
Is organic fish cheaper than regular fish?
Fish is almost impossible to not be organic. It’s the cattle and pigs that are given
hormones, antibiotics and other treatments.
Then farm raised fish might be non-organic.
That gets into a whole other mess of eco-labels, like farm raised but we didn’t cut down
coastal mangrove swamps to create fish farms.
I guess going fishing with Dad isn’t such a bad idea after all. It’s cheaper than
the $15 a pound organic beef at the store.
And slightly more tolerable.
