Welcome to Readings by Caroline's Card of the Day.
Separation: parting - detachment - segregation - severance - division
As we go through our lives, interacting, being involved and simply just being, we begin to
find ourselves entrenched in many aspects that may or may not be beneficial towards
the journey towards our goals. But we often find that familiarity and routine makes us
stay -- with the thought of change and movement invoking fear and doubt.
However, Removing yourself from a situation is sometimes the best thing to do.
I like to consider an egg in this circumstance. With its yolk and white all encased in the
shell. This may appear perfect to someone who is looking at it. And it may well be perfect.
It has all it needs inside. Together, it can make soft boiled and hard boiled eggs. And
if we simply look at the internal components, keeping them together we can make omelettes
and scrambled eggs. But sometimes, separation is the key to perfecting the dish. How would
your pavlova be if you did not separate the eggs? How about your custards?
While life is not exactly like an egg, this principle can be applied to our lives. Perhaps
everything seems alright, or unable to be changed, but if we separate ourselves, could
we create an opening for more? Could separating ourselves help us better focus our direction?
Could separating ourselves enable us to see things from a better perspective? Could separating
ourselves help us look after our own needs more effectively?
Today we are encouraged to do just this. Separate ourselves from the situation we are in. Reassess
what we are doing and look at whether we truly need to be doing what we are doing. You may
find that it is better to keep the egg whole in this case, but at least you'll have a better
understanding.
Separation: Removing yourself from a situation is sometimes the best thing to do. This does
not mean you no longer care, only that you have chosen to look after your own needs.
