I've lived in London all my life. Was born in Balham. My earliest memory is of riding a route master...
with my mum and being allowed to hand over the 5 pence fare...
because that's how cheap it was when I was a kid to ride the buses. My favourite route is actually the old 88 route.
It used to run from Trafalgar Square all the way down to, well through Mitcham where I lived.
When I was old enough to travel on my own, I can remember riding the route masters up and down Kings Road...
and doing that quite a lot just because I wanted to be cool.
Whenever I go somewhere and I see it, I say, I don't say that's a London bus,
I say oh that's on of my buses. Night bus journeys, they used to be a lot of fun.
I can remember aged about 15 having travelled in to central London to see in the new year in Trafalgar Square.
Had a whale of a time of it was brilliant there were about 12 of us.
We had to walk down White Hall because you couldn't pick up the buses as normal from Trafalgar Square...
because the masses of people and what was great about it was, you know...
you met random people everybody was on a good vibe and that, that continued when you jump on the bus.
There was one guy sat at the back singing is heart out, there's no point travelling anywhere else...
you've got to travel on the top deck it's quite a special moment.
So, those are my memories, what are yours? Let TfL know at loveyourbus@TfL.gov.uk Thanks for watching.
