Hi guys, its me again
As you can see I placed a couple of objects already
Among other things the lake itself. I always see the question: How to create water?
And the answer is: Drag it from asset browser into the scene - like every other object! You can find a couple of water meshes in the asset browser
If you want to know how to adjust reflections, color, waves,... of you water: Read my water tutorial in Redkit wiki! (Link in description)
Today topic: Vegetation
There are three vegetation tools. But lets search for the plant's meshes first.
You should know how to work with groups and layers by now^^
Lets start with the gardener tool. Its an easy one
You can also save (and load) you vegetation sets :)
You can move, rotate,... and delete each plant placed by the gardener tool
Next tool: Paint vegetation!
It needs a little preparation before we can start.
1. Create a new entitiy template in your level folder
2. Change entity class to cFoliageEntitiy
3. Get back to Gardener tool and add your template
4. Place the entity template on a layer - just like we did with plants before. You wont see any result
But back in Vegetation tool the template can be selected
Now we can add plants to the Vegetation list
Click Paint Vegetation to paint SELECTED plants. Use CTRL or Shift to select multiple entrys
This tool is a little buggy: Dont care for the yellow circle - plants will appear where your mouse pointer is!
Shift+click to delete painted vegetation (only the plants that are selected in vegetation list)
Numbers in brackets shows quantitiy of plants
We have a couple of settings for each plant
SizeVar creates size variations. High number - high diversity
Terrain alignment does not work for slopes in this tool!
alt+enter for fullscreen
Density: HIGH number - LOW density.
Density of plants has a major influence on performance (FPS rate)
Shadows have a major influence on performance (FPS rate) Always consider if your 10.000 grass meshes really need to cast shadows!
You might not be able to see them anyway (because of high grass density)
Maximum Render Distance has a major influence on performance (FPS rate) Set it higher for huge trees and lower for grass
Maybe not that low ;)
One tool missing: Foliage distribution tool. It also needs a foliage entity + vegetation list (like we created it to paint vegetation)
This tool just works in the space of an area - so better make them visible first.
Select an area
Click pick
Click Generate - vegetation will appear
This tool has lots of settings - I dont know what they do. If you want to use this tool, you have to find it out on your own ;)
Click iterate to generate a new alignment
If you use foliage distribution tool / paint vegetation tool you cannot edit single plants! You do not have single objects, just the entity template we placed earlier.
