[The Match Game theme song]
>> So, this is a First-Year Seminar class called "Wheels and Deals."
We studied the history of game shows and some of the music behind game shows
and set design and strategy and how to win on game shows.
We did a little mathematics to learn what the best way to win was.
So, this was their final presentations and projects
and putting together everything they learned all semester about game shows
and thinking about all the different aspects.
>> Contestants, it's time to meet your match!
Our first challenge is the "physical challenge."
[Family Feud theme song]
>> There's a really famous math problem called the Monty Hall problem.
And so as a mathematician that made me really interested and want to teach a class on game shows.
So, we talked about that problem.
I think they've gained an appreciation for game shows and they're more than something on television
that I think they affect our culture and everything around them
there's references to game shows and everything they see and learning some of the strategy behind it
and understanding that there are a lot of things that go on in a game show
[The Price is Right theme]
>> In first place...is...Jase and Meg!
