Hey, Marlee from Metamorphoself here.
And today, I have a really cool topic to talk to you about.
You know, I always try to look at alternative resources for ways to bridge concepts about what it is
that I teach and share here at Metamorphoself.
And one of the topics that I came across was actually a relationship-related topic
that I thought applied so well to building a business that is based on your passion and your purpose.
And that relationship topic was “Can you learn to love someone?”
That is: Could you get into a relationship with somebody and over time, just learn to really be in love with them?
And I think that there are a lot of societal ideas about what love looks like.
And it has to be kind of like the Romantic Comedy or you know, The Notebook,
or whatever more romantic ideal that people hold about love.
And the answer to the question according to the publication was really interesting
because they suggested that you could, in fact, learn to love somebody.
That if everything was present except for physical intimacy, which I would have to disagree with in some of the part.
But if everything was really on point in the relationship except for the intimacy
if that was the only thing I needed to work, you could probably come to love someone.
Now, the question I have for you is: Do you think that you could really come to love your business?
What I mean by this is a lot of times, I end up working with clients
who have already started an online business.
And it’s gone terribly wrong in terms of how they feel about it
and how they feel they are being able to do what they really love through their online business.
And the most common reason that this happens
is because they decided to go into online business for the wrong reasons.
Or they chose a specific industry or niche and online business because they heard it was popular or that it was a money maker.
And they were just hoping that by doing whatever steps they needed to do,
by following whatever formulas that they could find, that making the money would be enough.
Well, two things typically happen in that situation:
1. They don’t actually make the money that they are hoping to make.
2. They hate their business. I mean, they hate it.
And if they had some success with it, they have clients that they hate.
And now, they have a business that they hate and they have clients that they hate,
and they have no idea what to do.
And so, although this relationship expert would suggest that you could probably
fall in love with somebody you know, over time you could learn to love them,
I don’t believe the same is true for your business.
I believe that if you are going to truly be successful in online entrepreneurship,
or entrepreneurship in general for that matter, you have to really have a deep-rooted love
for what it is that you do. And you have to feel like what you’re doing matters.
It has to give you a sense of purpose,
and I believe it has to be about who you serve and not about you.
So, if you’re one of those people that’s in a place where you’re in a business that you absolutely hate,
cut yourself free from it.
Although that might be a very difficult concept to embrace at this moment,
it’s going to be one of the most powerful things that you can do for yourself.
And that is because not all is lost.
Whatever you have done up until this point is going to be valuable to you.
And you’re going to be able to use that
towards facilitating a business that is based on something that you’re passionate about
and something that does give you a sense of purpose.
And the other part is that you can stop wasting your time because you are wasting your time.
And life is too short.
So many unexpected things can happen.
I don’t believe that it’s worth it.
And I think that if you really take the time to ask yourself the question,
I don’t think you would think it’s worth it either to try to make something work
that you really in your heart don’t feel like you want to bring to life.
And although, in some instances, relationships might actually work in that manner,
which I don’t think that they do,
but if they did, I can certainly say that that’s not the case for your business.
So, what I'd like is for you to share what it is that you do in your business
that validates your passion and your purpose for it.
And if you can do that in the comments
I think it would really be a great source of inspiration for a lot of people who may be are in businesses
that are just making them miserable.
And if they can see how many people are out there
doing what it is that they love, and being able to share how that’s bringing them a sense of purpose,
they, too, will have the courage
to make something more of what it is that they’re trying to accomplish through entrepreneurship.
So, take some time to reveal that in the comments below.
And I look forward to talking to you very soon.
