University at Buffalo Open House, Saturday, March 26, 2001
Good morning everyone, Welcome to the University at Buffalo. We are so excited to have you here today on this beautiful bright and crisp day.
My name is Stephanie and I work here in the Office of Admissions and it is my pleasure to introduce to you Dr. Harvey Stenger.
Harvey Stenger is the dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
Dear Candidates, Today we need to answer the question: Why UB? You have to decide do you want to live here, do you want to learn here?
We can't tell you the answer. Our job is to help you find the answer. I can tell you that you have found a school with huge intellectual talents in every field of study.
There are hundreds of choices of majors and minors, and over 1,000 incredible professors who love to discover and interpret knowledge so they can be the world's greatest teachers.
You can take classes with Distinguished Professors and friends of mine such as Bruce Jackson in English, Charles Mitchell in Geology, Lois Weis in Education and Ken Takeuchi in Chemistry.
You can make friends from any US state and over 60 countries. You can participate in or watch Division I soccer, football, basketball or volleyball.
But it's not about a list of majors, it is about you. It's about your fit, your comfort and your future. So please, when you are walking around I want you to feel how small our big university is.
Sincerely, Dean Stenger. [Visit UB Admissions on Facebook, on twitter or at admissions.buffalo.edu]
