Hi I'm Bob Berry
and this is another Sims Crane
question and answer
The dead end of a hoist line
is usually secured with a Becket and a wedge.
The live end must be in line
with the pin of the Becket
once the tail is brought out of the Becket
and the wedge it must be
anywhere from six inches long
to a 1 1/2 long depending on
the type of cable you are securing
and it also must be
secured with some type of a clamp system
such as a
double saddle cable clamp
or a cable clamp and extra piece of cable
or in todays industry we have what we call a terminator
and it is actually terminated to the wedge in the Becket
