Welcome to my Team Fortress 2 Tutorial.
No matter if you're new to the game or an inactive player,
you'll find all the essential information about the game in these videos.
Let's start this slowly, shall we?
This is the Main Menu of Team Fortress 2, which is also the first thing you'll see when you start the game for the very first time.
You can find the "Options" menu of the game - here.
Here you can change all kinds of things, including the controls, the mouse, audio and video settings.
The game supports microphones and headsets as well, so if you have either of those, you can configure and test your microphone - here.
Last but not least,
here you can change your crosshair as well as your spray image.
Btw,
if you should ever need the in-game developer console, you can find the key for opening it -
here.
As for the "Adv. Options" menu,
check it AFTER you've played a few matches in-game.
Trust me, the options will make a lot more sense to you afterwards.
Moving on to the customization menu.
The "Items" section includes everything class-related.
You can equip all sorts of items here as well as check your statistics (the "Stats" menu at the top).
A detailed guide for the other options such as the "Backpack" and "Crafting" will follow in one of the future parts of this tutorial.
The "Shop" will be explained on a later date as well.
Just note that the shop involves real money and there is no way you can obtain any in-game points or currency to use in the shop.
Next, let me show you how to join a server.
The "Start Playing" option offers you a choice of all game modes the game has to offer.
Select a game mode and press the button to join a random server hosting a map with the game mode you selected.
There is a "Random Match Mode" as well.
If you prefer the traditional server list, it is availabe under the "Browse Server" option.
Here you can see the standard browser list, a list of favorite servers -
servers you've played on in the past.
You can join a Spectate server, you can join a servers over LAN network -
you can join servers your friends are currently playing on and you can select servers that are blacklisted by you.
If you want to test a map on your own, you can do so by clicking the " + " button - over here.
Simply select a map and press "Start" to play.
If you're inexperience with First-Person Shooters (FPS) or with computer games in general,
the tutorial section ("Training") offers you training sessions on the controls as well as some of the classes and game modes.
And now for the game itself.
Team Fortress 2 is a First-Person Shooter with a heavy emphasis on teamplay.
You join one of the two teams present in the game.
The "Reliable Excavation Demolition" - RED in short -
or the "Builders League United" - BLU in short.
The game offers 6 game modes in total:
Capture the Flag (called "Capture the Intelligence" in-game),
Control Point,
Payload,
Payload Race
and King of the Hill.
In "Capture the Flag",
you have to pick up the briefcase of the enemy team and bring it to the place where your team's briefcase is located.
As soon as the required number of briefcases has been captured, your team wins the round.
If you want another player to carry the briefcase, you can drop it by pressing the "L" button.
In "Control Point",
you have to capture all control points on the map in order to win.
Control points are the metallic plates on the ground.
Stand near or on top of it in order to start a capture sequence.
A timer is shown at the bottom of the screen, showing the progress of the capture.
The more players of one team are standing on the control point, the faster the point is captured.
However, if an enemy player is standing on the control point while you stand on it, the capture sequence will be paused.
In "Payload",
you have to take care of a cart that is moving towards its goal.
If you're on team RED, you have to prevent the cart from reaching its goal.
If you're on team BLU, you have to protect the cart and make sure that it does reach its goal.
The cart only moves if a player from team BLU is standing close to the cart.
Just like in Control Point Mode, the more players are guarding the cart, the faster it moves.
"Payload Race" is the same as Payload,
with the only difference being that team RED has a cart as well.
The team whose cart reaches its goal faster, wins.
"King of the Hill" is about capturing and protecting a single control point.
As soon as the control point is captured,
you and your team must prevent the other team from re-capturing it and wait until the timer for your team's capture reaches " 0.00 " .
This is all for today's video.
In part 2, I'll explain the classes of the game in full detail.
Have a nice day!
